- Project Brief: Design a bold beauty website that combines biotech credibility, inclusive storytelling, and rebellious branding to introduce a next-generation sunscreen experience.
A beauty website usually plays it safe with soft gradients and clinical calm. Sunfreaks does the opposite, styling a biotech sunscreen brand like a 1970s roadside poster.
The retro-rebel identity runs top to bottom. Film-grain photography, a scripted "by Ana Madness" signature, and a hot-pink "biotech-driven" marquee set the tone, while a linear scroll walks users from the shade problem to product, founder, and CTA.
The science stays clear without going clinical. "The Shade Gap" names the problem, that most sunscreens leave a white cast on melanin-rich skin, and tabbed labels for UV, melanin, cellular, biotech, and glow break the formula into scannable pieces. The light, text-driven layout also helps load speed across devices.
Typography and motion carry the personality. Oversized serif headlines trade off with a scrolling marquee and a repeated "1-800-SUN-FREAK" gag that fake movement through rhythm, while a yellow "Join the Waitlist" button follows every scroll depth so the one conversion point never drifts away.
