- Project Brief: Design a banking and finance website that introduces Wero’s digital wallet platform and supports secure, user-friendly payment experiences.
A banking website rarely announces itself as fun. 51North's site for Wero leans into the opposite, dressing a payment platform launch in pink-to-yellow gradients and bold animated illustrations.
The hero stacks "iDEAL IS BECOMING WERO" in heavy black geometric sans, then routes visitors through two pill buttons labeled "I'm a Consumer" and "I'm a Merchant." Highlighter-style color blocks frame key words like "safely" further down the page, turning regulatory copy into something closer to a slide deck.
Custom illustrated objects carry the explainer sections, including a stopwatch, a gauge and a padlock rendered in saturated gradients. The illustrations let a banking and finance website explain technical transitions without resorting to icon-pack diagrams.
A pill-shaped nav floats at the bottom with What is it?, When?, FAQ and Banks, anchored by a small mascot in the corner. An NL/EN toggle sits opposite, signaling the multilingual rollout without breaking the chatty tone that runs the rest of the site.
51North turned a regulatory migration into the kind of brand moment most fintechs save for their Series A.
