The beginnings of The Free Website Guys probably aren’t what you’d expect.

In early 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic picked up steam, many friends and family members of ours, some out of work or at risk of getting laid off, started businesses of their own — but didn’t have a professional website to showcase their products or services. As a group of freelance web developers ourselves, we thought we could help.

But we didn’t charge anyone. Instead, we just asked them to mention us to their friends, or hire us for additional projects, if they liked our work.

We got such positive feedback from people, and so many started coming back for additional paid work later on (like advanced website customizations or SEO support), that we launched The Free Website Guys.

To date, we’ve built over 5,000 professional websites for people around the world and we quickly became the top rated website development agency.

    The FreeWebsiteGuys is not a scam. It is indeed a free service to build a free basic website. The collaboration was smooth and project management facilitated that I knew at all times what the next steps are and in how many days I can expect an answer. While for people who are inexperienced with working with the backend of Wordpress, the project for sure comes with its challenges, it is helpful to work with premium templates like the Divi builder. It is helpful to have your content ready, to know the basics about SEO or to have a friend who can help your get your website crawled and indexed correctly. Also, after checking in with Sven they also installed a plugin to make my website https conform instead of http. There is still quite a bit to know when working with an agency. The pure technical set-up is sometimes not enough. However, if you are willing to pay a little extra, I am sure it is worthwhile and the FreeWebsiteGuys are a competent partner to get these things sorted.

    Sven and the team approached me on LinkedIn and this was very timely as this year I am growing my research group and was considering creating a website for the group. It did not take me very long time to decide and take on the invitation to create a website by The Free Website Guys, the offer seemed very generous and all the instructions were straightforward with hips of explanations and short videos to get us started.     At first I thought getting a free website would mean that I would need to compromise design quality, functionality and support so I hesitated.
