I used this company for one of my books that I recently published. They falsely represented that they could get me into best seller status, which would help boost my sales. In reality what they did is something I can do on Amazon myself which is freely promote my e-book edition of my book. So while this temporarily boosts algorithm on Amazon for that category only it does nothing to help the rest of my book editions sell. I’m disgusted with how this company represents what they actually do and the fact that I paid a bunch of money and have zero results to show for it. I do not recommend you use this company as you will waste your money and your time and end up in the same spot you would be in if you did it yourself. "

I highly recommend Sarah and her team. I wanted to share my wisdom with the world and they helped make my dreams a reality! They assisted me with all aspects of my book -writing, editing and publishing. I am forever grateful! "

I had an amazing experience working with Writers of the West to publish my book. From start to finish, their team was professional, supportive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the entire publishing process. They took the time to understand my vision and helped bring it to life in a way that exceeded my expectations.Communication was always clear and timely, and they guided me through each step with patience and expertise. Whether it was editing, design, or final production, everything was handled with care and attention to detail. If you’re looking for a team that truly cares about your work and wants to see you succeed as an author, I highly recommend Writers of the West. "

I want to share my experience working with Writers of the West to help other authors make informed decisions.I began working with them in late February and paid a $600 deposit toward a $1,200 publishing package. Within approximately two weeks, the only work completed was early-stage cover design. However, the designs I received did not align with my vision at all. I ultimately had to create and provide my own concept (including sketches and direction), and even then, the process remained incomplete and not finalized. Based on the communication, it was clear that I was leading the creative direction rather than receiving guided design support.More concerning was the lack of clear communication. I asked multiple detailed questions about the publishing process, timeline, formatting, and how I would be involved in reviewing drafts. These questions were not directly answered, which created confusion about how the project would actually proceed. At one point, when referencing a prior conversation about payment flexibility, my understanding was dismissed in a way that felt unprofessional and unnecessarily defensive. Rather than clarifying collaboratively, the response came across as accusatory.Due to these issues, I chose to discontinue the project early—before any proofreading, formatting, or manuscript work had begun, and before receiving any draft deliverables.Despite this, I was offered only a 50% refund of my deposit, which does not reflect the very early stage of the project or the limited services provided.Overall, my experience was marked by unclear communication, lack of transparency, and a level of service that did not meet expectations for a paid publishing package.I would strongly encourage other authors to ask very detailed questions about deliverables, timelines, and level of involvement before committing. "

EDIT: Of course they would respond to try to justify subpar services and neglect to mention that they had my original manuscript for 2 weeks and did not produce anything until after I reached out to inquire. A reputable business would not even be okay with giving a customer subpar work and charging for it. If you are just getting started, find a company that works with you and communicates with you throughout. Poor form.I paid a hefty upfront deposit for editing services on a manuscript I had already written. I was given a timeframe of two months to complete the work with weekly deliverables. Nope. I had to follow up with them multiple times. When I finally got a first deliverable, it was a handful of proofreading marks. What?? I paid $1000 for line-by-line editing, far more detail-intensive work. They sent me lower-tier proofreading marks and said, "we like to use a lighter touch." Then you should not charge me for editing services if you will not deliver them. After receiving an "assurance" email, they ghosted me yet again. I did not feel comfortable with this company any longer, realizing that they would never be able to meet their two month timeline due to their own lack of production. When I told them I wanted to cancel, all of a sudden there was a flurry of rude, derogatory emails telling me that I was being unreasonable as a customer. My understanding was that, if I was not happy with what I received, I could cancel. They had only proofread 12 pages of a 100-page manuscript and given me less than 10 proofreading marks on those 12 pages. When they finally agreed to refund me, they kept $300. The entire proofreading package is $450. Explain to me how a company can justify retaining $300 for less than 10 proofreading marks on 12 pages, when their entire proofreading package is $450???? This is a ripoff and I cannot express how deeply disappointed I was with this whole experience. I did not even get the $700 back from them until I threatened to file a dispute with my credit card company. BUYER BEWARE. This company owes me my money back. "
