  • Project Brief: Redesign Alabama Power’s Shorelines lake companion app to make lake conditions, weather forecasts, safety alerts, and shoreline information easier to access through clear navigation, visual data cards, and map-focused interactions.

An app with standout features can turn raw utility data into something lake residents check every morning. Ramotion redesigned Shorelines, Alabama Power’s lake companion app formerly called Smart Lakes, so homeowners, boaters, and visitors can read water levels, weather, and alerts at a glance.

The home screen works like a giant depth gauge, with a ruler of tick marks and a bold “375 ft 8 in” readout sitting above a teal wave that fills the screen. Compact cards below list water temperature, humidity, active generators, and flow in cubic feet per second.

Onboarding opens on a misty mountain lake photo, then lets you pick a home lake like Weiss or Neely Henry and choose extra data such as spillway conditions, aquatic plants, and points of interest. Each option sits on a rounded card with a colored icon and checkmark, so the dashboard only shows what you care about.

A notifications screen lets you set a preferred water level range by dragging arrows on a chart that compares historical, operating, and current levels in white, yellow, and purple. A separate generator view lists hourly schedules with a simple toggle that sends an alert the moment generators turn on.
