  • Project Brief: Create a cohesive print identity for two Ellis Butchers locations by balancing heritage-inspired and contemporary branding while reinforcing the business's commitment to ethical sourcing, premium quality, and community connection.

A retail print system proves its thinking when two locations share a parent brand without feeling like copies of each other. Studio Blackburn builds Ellis Butchers around that premise, giving Blackheath Village and Blackheath Standard distinct personalities under the same ethical sourcing commitment.

The Village location gets a classic logotype, deep green and traditional tiles that honor a century of trade. The Standard location gets bold typography and striking orange aimed at a younger demographic that shops and posts in equal measure.

A cast of meat characters led by "Meat Ellis" carries warmth and humor across both locations. They show up on paper bags, tote bags, receipts and window graphics, doing the connective work that neither palette could manage alone.

The Village receipt names the butcher who served you. That single detail captures what the whole system is built around: a neighborhood trade that knows its customers.
