  • Project Brief: Create an arts and recreation print campaign that builds curiosity through minimalist copy and recognizable references to Andy Warhol's iconic work.

Arts and recreation print for a museum almost always leans on the artwork itself. BarkleyOKRP inverted that for "See It at The Warhol," running billboards that show no art at all and instead just print plain words like "Soup can." or "Shiny balloon."

The blank restraint is what drives the concept. By naming an icon and withholding the image, each board makes your own memory supply the Warhol, which pulls you into finishing the ad.

The tagline turns that gap into a reason to travel. "Words don't do it justice. See it at The Warhol" admits the text can't compete with the real thing, so the billboard sells the museum visit rather than the picture.

The plain typography carries the whole board on a highway. Black-on-white or white-on-black text set clean and huge reads in a second at speed, which lets a deliberately image-free billboard still cut through a wall of busier advertising.
