  • Project Brief: Create a high-fashion music video that combines cinematic choreography, bold visual storytelling, and an energetic soundtrack to promote The Devil Wears Prada 2.

A video built to show off amazing background music only works if the cut actually moves with the track. RUNWAY hands its whole edit over to a house-pop beat from Lady Gaga and Doechii, and lets Parris Goebel's choreography hit on the count.

The dancing is the structure here. Bodies snap into shapes, break apart, and reform on the syncopated bassline, so the whole thing plays like a fashion show that happens to keep perfect time. The rhythm lives in the movement, not just the speakers.

The cutting swings hard between two modes. Tight, boxed-in close-ups carry the verses, then the shots blow wide open on the drop, and the flashing camera bursts in the chorus go off right on the beat, so they feel like part of the song instead of an effect dropped on top.

Merman skipped the usual glossy fashion look and shot it rough and high-contrast, which fits a track this sharp and metallic. Everything is timed close enough that the music drives the picture rather than sitting under it, and Gaga and Doechii pass the verses back and forth while the framing shifts to match whoever has the mic.
