We at Quickfire Tableware Ltd, have used Hawsons Payroll for years, Scott Mills and his team have always been professional and reassuring with expert knowledge. They are flexible with us if we need last minute tweaks and changes to payroll. Hawsons aren't the cheapest but they are excellent at what they do and it's worth it to get it done right , especially with something as important as payroll.

Former Director for Highways Design and Maintenance Ltd.I switched my company to Brown McLeod circa 2010, on recommendation from a friend, and never looked back. I have received excellent service from them ever since. The staff are great, they’ve helped us out through a few tough times, during Austerity and Covid, and also offered help above and beyond what you would expect, for instance: personal issues with HMRC (getting through to them when I couldn’t) and on issues such as Student Loans and Mortgages. I’ve recently closed down HDM Ltd as I’m approaching retirement; but, if I do get bored, and decide to branch out again, then Brown McLeod will be my first point of contact.

Went with this company when we decided to go on our own around 4 years ago. Told them we would need looking after as always been employed. They assured me they would . We got tripped up at nearly every stage and received little to no help. At one point we almost thought we would have to lose the company. They do everything last minute and are terrible to work with. You have to tell them about ways of saving yourself money....not them! Avoid!Sue who does payroll is really good though.

If you value your time, confidentiality and money as a business/entertainer. absolutely avoid like another reviewer suggested. I had been incredibly patient with basic errors being made that became consistent once I internally complained they dropped me as a client. Prior, I had little contact with an actual accountant and more with a trainee/junior during my time with them. No accountability or communication when asked why. Do yourself a favour and pay for a more premium service. Sharks, now obligated to pay penalties due to them abruptly ending my service. AVOID!

However, I would like to leave a review on Jonathan and the reason for this is because from the moment I've started he has been nothing but supportive and helpful in every situation. I was new to being a director of a pub and Jonathan put me on the right track about everything and making sure everything was running smoothly. We have been a user of Shorts services for many many years, they have been and continue to be a great service provider for our small business, supporting us through many changes in our operations, difficult times with covid and of course the introduction of ever more digital and online services. Our owner operated small business liaison advisor is on hand at the end of an email or phone to guide us through tax, vat and investments issues along with how we navigate our on line accounting software effectively and correctly. The friendly team are great when we visit and it's always good to catch up with some, old faces and be greeted with a cheerful hello and a great cup of coffee. This so-called "chartered accountancy firm" appears to have no issue allowing their systems to be used for scams, refusing to take accountability for the theft of your hard-earned money.Their partnership with Revolut—a bank notorious for facilitating scams—raises serious questions about their integrity. Makesworth's inaction and lack of transparency show they cannot be trusted under any circumstances. Avoid at all costs if you value your money.
