We were referred to colormatics by our ad people at krem. We compared pricing and products of colormatics against a number of industry-specific marketing providers. Colormatics had the strongest portfolio and, surprisingly, offered exceptional pricing. Colormatics laid out a full shoot schedule which was pre-approved. They arrived on scene early one morning and traveled across central Washington to four separate locations to make an exceptionally tight yet comprehensive video about our firm. We began around 8 am and wrapped about 430 pm. Colormatics maintained excellent lines of communication including via email, text, cell and the video editing platform that they utilized. I always felt "in the loop" with them.

Our team developed the idea of showcasing individuals who are making a positive impact online within their own communities. When we shared the concept with Colormatics, they immediately explored creative ways to bring it to life visually. They transformed our vision into a compelling visual narrative. The final piece blended live-action footage with motion graphics. We conducted interviews and also wanted to highlight the social media activity of these community members. Their profiles were used as a storytelling device, appearing almost like flashbacks, but animated in a way that made the content feel like it was unfolding in real time. We’re now experimenting with turning interview voiceovers into animated illustrations. We believe these could resonate even more on social platforms. The plan was to compare performance between the two video styles, and we’re looking forward to testing them soon.

Working with ANML on the Yummly app experience and the Yummly Smart Thermometer (IoT) was an outstanding collaboration. Yummly combined personalized recipe discovery, meal planning, and guided cooking into a highly curated food experience, while the Smart Thermometer extended that ecosystem into connected cooking with real-time temperature tracking and assisted preparation workflows. As Director of UX at Yummly, I worked closely with ANML throughout both initiatives, and they operated almost as a seamless extension of our internal design team. Their work consistently demonstrated excellent design craft, strong product thinking, and a highly collaborative mindset. Beyond delivering high-quality UX and visual design, their contribution helped sharpen and strengthen the overall value proposition of the products by making complex cooking experiences feel approachable, premium, and intuitive for users.

As Anthony Bourdain's partners, we were approached by CNN to create an immersive digital site that would provide a beautiful home for each destination covered by Bourdain's show Parts Unknown. It was a huge task not least because there were already close to 100 destinations to integrate into a usable global site. But also because the site was meant to live up to the beauty and aesthetic of the television program. And it needed to be done in a way that satisfied both our mainstream luxury advertisers (like LandRover, ANA, and more) but also the famously high standards of Bourdain himself. ANML engaged in this 18-month design and build process with outstanding workmanship and creative decision-making. They navigated wildly different and demanding stakeholders. And in the end they built a site that still looks fresh even nearly a decade later. If you want to make lasting work, there is no one else I could recommend more.
