  • Project Brief: Design a mobile app that enhances plant care with intuitive navigation, AI-powered scanning, and personalized insights.

Plant care apps have a retention problem. Users download them, scan one plant, and forget they exist. Beadaptify designed Pleafy to solve that by making the scan the starting point of a relationship, not the end of one.

The AI scanner identifies species and flags health issues from a single photo. But the design decision that matters is what happens after the scan.

The result screen returns a species name, a rating, a sales count, and a price, linking identification directly to purchase. Beadaptify turned a utility feature into a commerce funnel without adding a single extra step.

The recreation app's home screen organizes around buying behavior, not botanical taxonomy. Special offers sit at the top, category filters run horizontally below, and a "Most Popular" section catches browsers who don't know what they want yet. The information architecture mirrors how people actually shop, not how botanists classify.

The onboarding sequence runs three screens. Each pairs a hand holding a plant with a single message. No feature tours, no permission requests, no account creation before value delivery. The user sees plants before a login form. That sequencing matters for an app competing with dozens of plant care tools in the App Store.

The social layer adds stickiness. An invite friends screen pulls from the user's contacts with one-tap invite buttons, and the profile section keeps settings flat: eight options, all visible without scrolling. Beadaptify kept the secondary features simple, so the primary ones (scan, shop, care) stay fast.

Pleafy grew to more than 200,000 active users. The design earned that number by treating plant identification as the entry point to a longer relationship with the product, not as the product itself.
