Team Behind the Design
Bunchies started as a small pickup-only burger and wings spot with a tight local following. To help the brand scale, Jay Design Studio built a bold, street-inspired print identity using high-impact color, expressive type, and oversized food imagery — a system that captured Bunchies’ flavor-first personality and supported its growth across multiple UK locations.
Print Design Analysis

Evaluating food and beverage print designs for fast-casual brands usually comes down to appetite appeal, personality, and quick recognizability.
Jay Design Studio’s work for Bunchies nails this by leaning fully into flavor and attitude, turning every touchpoint into a bold, youthful expression of the brand’s flavor-first character.

- Typography: The chunky, hand-cut display type is one of the strongest parts of the system. Its irregular shapes add a playful edge, and I like how the burger-icon “E” turns a single letter into a brand cue. Paired with a clean sans-serif for body text, the typography stays readable without losing its attitude.
- Layout & Information Flow: Menus and posters use sectional hierarchy, left-aligned grids, and checkerboard headers to guide the eye. I like how this structure creates pace and makes scanning easy. It keeps the experience energetic but never chaotic, which is tough to pull off in a brand this bold.
- Photography & Appetite Appeal: The imagery focuses entirely on indulgent, full-bleed burgers. This choice amplifies appetite appeal, and the ultra-close textures make every poster feel bold and mouthwatering. It’s the kind of photography that naturally pulls attention in outdoor environments.
- Application: Across outdoor ads, packaging, and apparel, the yellow-and-blue palette and witty copy tie everything together. I see how this consistency supports a brand with multiple locations. The system keeps its character no matter the format, which sets Bunchies up well for growth.

Impact and Recognition
The rebrand played a significant role in accelerating Bunchies’ growth:
- The business expanded from a single hole-in-the-wall shop to three franchise locations across the UK.

What Brands & Agencies Can Learn from Bunchies

Bunchies proves how fast-casual brands can build instant cultural presence through bold visuals, loud personality, and appetite-driven imagery.
1. Let the Food Do the Heavy Lifting
The oversized burger photography commands attention on every poster. When the product looks this craveable, scale and simplicity beat over-designed layouts every time.
2. Treat Typography as a Voice, Not Just a Style
The chunky, hand-cut type gives the brand its attitude. It shows how expressive letterforms can define personality just as strongly as logos or illustrations.
3. Use Consistency to Build Recognition Fast
Bright yellow, deep blue, big type, big burgers — repeated across every format. The tight system proves that repetition isn’t boring; it’s how emerging brands become instantly identifiable.
