  • Project Brief: Design a public signage campaign that integrates seamlessly into New York City subway stations, using location-specific typography and environmental graphics to connect Degree's brand message with authentic commuter experiences.

Signs print for a deodorant brand faces one hard trick: proving a sweat claim somewhere abstract. Degree solves it by planting the message where people are already sweating, renaming New York's hottest subway stops after what commuters called them online.

The core move hijacks the station's own tile mosaics. West 4th Street becomes "Sweat Central" and Union Square turns into "Boiler Room," matched so exactly to the vintage lettering that the joke reads as official signage.

The craft is in the fit, not the flash. Each mosaic copies the existing border vines, color, and hand-set tile so it sits inside the real tilework, which is what sells the rename as MTA-sanctioned rather than a poster slapped on top.

WPP Unite carried the same navy-and-cream palette onto the turnstile wraps, tagging Degree "The Official Deodorant of the Hottest Commutes." That placement gives an abstract durability claim a concrete stage, since the ad lands on the exact platform where the product has to hold up.
