Standout Features:

  • Dynamic colors and modern color blocking
  • Thoughtful integration of Japanese cultural elements
  • Consistent sans-serif typographic identity

Fusing modern design with deep cultural roots was central to Satsuki's identity as a boutique omakase restaurant. But how do you translate these into prints that feel super modern and deeply traditional at the same time? Krentz Creative stepped in to design print materials of menus, cards, and stickers to put in print what Satsuki’s done so well.

This design system achieves a strong visual statement largely through its dynamic, confident use of color blocking techniques. Blocks of deep purple, vibrant coral, and off-white are layered in high-contrast layouts. This is an example of a contemporary method that helps brands look colorful, confident, and most importantly, different.

Working alongside the bold visual structure are thoughtful Japanese cultural touches integrated throughout. You’ll see vertical Japanese typography appearing on menus, specific characters used graphically on stickers, and simple, culturally relevant illustrations to add some nice visual texture to the prints.

Lastly, a bold, clean, slightly condensed sans-serif font provides the main consistent typographic voice across all the print pieces. You see it applied for major headlines, menu items, and other important branding text. Sans-serif is synonymous to clarity or readability, but in this case, it also adds visual impact that contributes to Satsuki’s sharp identity.

Krentz Creative’s work for Satsuki highlights how hospitality print design can shape the entire guest experience before food even arrives. The materials set a tone and investing in print that truly reflects your brand's core idea (just like this modern-meets-traditional concept) can help tell a richer story that would better resonate with your guests.
