- Project Brief: Create an animated video that turns a Clash Royale battle scenario into a fast-paced, humorous short through expressive characters, dynamic action, and comedic storytelling.
Animation video that commits to a period style asks viewers to buy its rules in the first few seconds. DAVID NY renders a Clash Royale battle in full 1930s rubber-hose black and white, from the grainy vignette title card to the bouncing hand-drawn lettering.
The type treatment sets the era on its own. Cream serif letters, curled quotation marks, and a soft spotlight on black velvet pull straight from a Depression-era studio card.
The rubber-hose bodies carry the comedy. The ram-bearers squash and stretch as they haul their weapon uphill, and the wide grin on the fallen cannon-headed character lands the beat with no dialogue at all.
The detail work seals the era. Grain, flicker, and soft-focus vignetting sit over every frame, so the short reads as a genuine archival cartoon rather than a filter dropped on modern animation.
