"Assemble the World" transforms everyday IKEA products into shoppable versions of national flags celebrating countries competing in the FIFA World Cup. Created for IKEA Canada, the campaign combines football fandom, home décor, and cultural identity, inviting audiences to discover products, recreate designs, and engage with the brand in a playful, interactive way.

  • Project Brief: Create a World Cup campaign that connects IKEA products with national pride, multiculturalism, and interactive shopping.

A commercial for e-commerce and retail rarely doubles as a product catalog, but IKEA Canada's "Assemble the World" pulls both off at once. Made with Dentsu Creative for the World Cup, it rebuilds national flags out of everyday IKEA items and lets you shop the pieces straight from the frame.

The conceit is simple and reads instantly. A green DRÖNA box, a yellow tray, and a blue lid lock into Brazil's flag under the line "brilliant match," while a grid of KALLAX cubes and red boxes forms a cross implies the England flag. Each shot hides recognizable products in plain sight, so identifying them becomes part of the fun.

The craft sits in the transformation. Overhead framing and clean white space make small household objects feel monumental, and playful cuts let items "assemble" themselves, echoing the flat-pack ritual every IKEA shopper already knows. An upbeat edit keeps the pace close to match-day energy without burying the products.

The payoff is a spot that earns its retail label twice over. It turns a traditional ad asset into a shoppable, shareable game while tying Canada's multicultural pride to IKEA's whole reason for being, assembly. Few brand ideas fit their owner this cleanly.
