Animation carries the emotional weight of this trailer before any mechanic appears. The Alters: Last Variable Trailer opens on Jan Dolski's voice talking to himself, so the sci-fi premise lands as a personal identity crisis first.
The color grading maps the stakes onto the frame. Cool, clinical blues wall off the Oasis interiors while hostile oranges and reds flood the exterior, so the "destructive sun" reads visually before the script names it.
The editing races the score. A minimalist electronic pulse swells against quick cuts of base-building, and the syncopation between crescendo and task turns terraforming into a countdown.
The mechanics stay inside the fiction. Rather than menu overlays, the trailer shows Jan facing holographic versions of himself, so forging a team of alters plays as story rather than UI.
