- Project Brief: Create a professional services website that simplifies Karat’s hiring journey through human-centric UX, accessible visuals, responsive design, and subtle interactions.
What does a hiring platform look like when it stops trying to rush you? Baunfire answered that for Karat with a professional services website built on composure rather than pressure, calm where the category runs loud.
The hero opens on one plain claim and a real interview in progress. A short headline sits beside live-style windows of an engineer and an interviewer mid-conversation, so the page shows the unhurried interview Karat sells before it explains a thing.
The caret from the logo becomes a quiet motif threaded through the pages. Small upward arrows recur behind imagery and section breaks, so Karat carries a mark that reads as forward progress without a literal chart.
The product section maps straight onto the shape of a hiring funnel. Three cards, Karat Qualify, Karat Interview, and Hiring Insights, sit along a dotted line in the order a candidate moves through them, so the layout teaches the process while it lists the products.
The solutions area works as one switchable panel in place of eight separate pages. A left-hand list swaps a single preview card for each hiring need, from global hiring to early career, so a buyer scans the whole range without losing their place.
The palette rests on soothing blues, teal, and white. Cool tones carry most of the page and set the settled mood Karat wants around interviews, a rare register in a field that reaches for red urgency.
Yellow and pink appear only where a differentiator earns the attention. Baunfire holds the bright accents back for the purpose program and a few key service points, so color marks importance instead of filling every block.
The Brilliant Black Minds section breaks the calm on purpose with a bold yellow-and-purple shift. The program offering free mock interviews to Black engineers gets its own loud identity, which sets the mission apart from the product pages without burying it.
The member map trades a data table for portrait tags pinned across the US. Named roles like data scientist and security engineer ride on real faces, so a claim about range becomes something a visitor takes in at a glance.
The proof block stacks three oversized numbers over a faint world map. More than 350,000 interviews, 70 countries reached, and 500 trained interview engineers register in seconds and stand in for a page of copy.
Motion stays deliberate through soft transitions and light interactive touches. Baunfire kept the animation gentle so movement supports the unhurried tone rather than competing with it.
The layout keeps its calm down to a phone screen. Rounded shapes and open spacing carry to mobile, so the experience reads the same whether a recruiter opens it at a desk or between meetings.
Baunfire's real move was tonal. In a category selling speed and urgency, Karat pulls attention by looking like the least stressful option on the shortlist.
