  • Project Brief: Design a website for an independent brand experience agency that leads with its client work and explains its services in clear, direct language.

A digital agency website sells the agency's taste before a visitor reads a word. Starfish built its own site around a full-screen showreel and a gallery of client work, with very little text in the way.

Starfish is an independent brand experience agency founded in 2002. The New York team also runs offices in France and Florida and has worked with PwC, Gallup, Dunkin', Avis, Samsung, and Hologic.

The homepage opens on a full-screen video reel under a minimal black-and-white header. A short statement follows, with the word Starfish set in teal as the only color in the text.

Below it, the portfolio runs as a stack of full-width image tiles. Each tile gives one campaign the whole screen, from Dunkin's coffee drop to PwC's "future of tax" posters.

Navigation stays out of the way. A black Let's Talk button and a menu icon sit in the top corners, and the full site map waits in the footer.

An FAQ accordion answers five questions, such as what Starfish does and who it works with. The answers state services, history, and clients in plain sentences, which gives search engines and AI tools clear facts to cite.

The page closes on an oversized "Let's talk" headline with an arrow. Footer columns then sort links for work, services, thinking, and careers.

Results & Impact

The Starfish site lets the client work make the pitch. Visitors see the portfolio first, then get direct answers and a clear path to a conversation.

  • Work-first layout: Full-width tiles put campaigns for Dunkin', PwC, and the Anti-Defamation League at the center
  • Restrained palette: Black, white, and a single teal accent keep attention on the imagery
  • Clear answers: An FAQ block explains services, history, and clients in plain language
  • Direct contact: A Let's Talk button in the header and a closing call to action invite inquiries from anywhere on the page
