I started working with SoftDoes when our product had already grown beyond the point where small fixes were enough. We needed to rethink several parts of the system and make sure the next stage of growth would not create even more technical debt. The team got into the project fast. Within the first few weeks, they helped us identify the main bottlenecks, clean up several fragile integrations, and improve the parts of the platform that were slowing us down the most. One practical result was that a key operation that used to take around 4-5 minutes now takes less than a minute. I also saw a noticeable drop in recurring technical issues after the release. What I liked most was the way they worked with us. Very little ceremony, clear communication, good technical judgment, and a strong sense of ownership.I’d be happy to work with SoftDoes again on another complex software project.

My experience with SoftDoes has been extremely disappointing. Their communication is terrible, the people I dealt with were highly unprofessional, and their pricing is absolutely outrageous compared to the value of the work being delivered. One of my biggest concerns is the company’s lack of transparency. From what I’ve observed, their development work appears to be outsourced to people in Ukraine through another company called Come Back Agency. Even when I searched for SoftDoes online, its website appeared to redirect to Come Back Agency.Take a look at their LinkedIn yourself. They present themselves as a Kansas City-based company, yet I couldn’t find a single employee listed as being based in Kansas City. That raises serious questions about their business structure, where their team actually operates, and who you’re really paying to develop your software. My interactions with the CEO, Orest, were particularly unpleasant. I found him extremely arrogant, dismissive, and condescending. He speaks to customers as though they’re beneath him. Rather than addressing legitimate concerns professionally, his attitude made an already frustrating experience even worse.Their Google reviews also raised serious red flags for me. Several reviewer profiles appeared to have AI-generated profile pictures, and the reviews themselves read as though they were written by ChatGPT rather than genuine customers. Many of these accounts had only ever reviewed SoftDoes. After I confronted them about these concerns, I noticed that some profile pictures had been changed to what appeared to be stock images, and the accounts had gained an additional review of random places. I cannot independently verify who operates these accounts, but the timing and patterns made me seriously question the authenticity of their online reputation.Nothing about my experience with SoftDoes has inspired trust. If you’re looking for custom software development, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Verify who you’re actually doing business with, who will be developing your software, and what you’re paying for.

We had been running a large part of our business through spreadsheets and a mix of different tools for years. We've grown past spreadsheets now. SoftDoes built a custom platform around the way our team actually works. That's probably what we appreciated most about working with them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Milwaukee Web Designers

What web design services do Milwaukee agencies provide?

Milwaukee website design agencies typically provide website audit, UX research and analysis, custom user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design, responsive design, web app design, and website redesign.

All of their services involve the web design process: research and discovery, strategy and sitemap, wireframing, prototyping, design, testing and quality assurance, and handoff. Many also offer custom website development, technical search engine optimization (SEO), and website maintenance as part of their service package.

What is the difference between a template and a custom web design?

A website template uses pre-built layouts and features, making it faster and more affordable to develop. However, it offers limited customization and scalability.

For example, you may be able to add your logo and switch the colors and typography of the template. But the fonts are limited to what's freely available, rather than the ones in your brand kit.

On the other hand, a custom web design means that your site’s features, page layout, user flow, and wireframes are tailored to your business goals and user behaviors. By doing so, you gain more control over your website's components, leading to stronger brand alignment, higher scalability, and optimal user experiences.

However, custom web design often entails higher upfront costs and longer timelines.

What industries do they commonly work with?

Milwaukee web designers work with a broad range of industries due to Metro Milwaukee’s position as Wisconsin’s main economic hub. The most common sectors they serve include:

  • Manufacturing: With approximately 3,000 manufacturers located in Milwaukee, agencies are skilled in producing enterprise-scale industrial portfolios and eCommerce platforms that drive global traffic and sales.
  • Transportation and logistics: Thanks to the nearby Port of Milwaukee, many agencies have experience creating asset-tracking portals and B2B-focused platforms that enhance supply chain efficiency and support client acquisition.
  • Food and beverage: Known as Brew City, Milwaukee’s web designers excel in creating user-centric web apps for menu browsing, food ordering and delivery, and online reservations.
  • Finance: Home to major financial institutions like Northwestern Mutual, Fiserv, KPMG, and Baird, Milwaukee agencies are well-versed in developing online solutions that comply with PCI-DSS, GLBA, and FINRA regulations.
  • Medical Tech and biotech: Website design companies in Milwaukee specialize in building HIPAA- and FDA-compliant sites that help attract funding and grants.

How long does it take to build a new website?

Basic business websites with 5-15 unique pages, a simple content management setup, and a few integrations take about 4-6 weeks. Complex websites, such as eCommerce stores and SaaS platforms, can take anywhere from 6 to over 12 weeks.

The actual time it will take to build your new website will depend on your core features and functionalities, regulatory requirements, design complexity and customization, and third-party integrations.

Can a Milwaukee web design company help your business rank for Milwaukee-based searches?

Yes. A top Milwaukee web design company can help your business rank for local searches by implementing technical and local SEO best practices. These include ensuring that the site adheres to the web core vitals, has an organized information architecture, and a mobile-responsive design.

Moreover, it can customize the user experience to the specific behaviors of Milwaukee audiences. Through thorough research and localized content strategies, they align your site with local search intent. While these strategies significantly boost your visibility in local "Map Packs" and organic results, it is important to note that no reputable company can guarantee a specific position.
