In mid-2025, we engaged Pathfinder to integrate smart collections on Shopify, paying over $3,000 per month for what we were assured would be professional, competent work.What followed was a month-long ordeal of constant back and forth, delays, and repeated errors. A project that should have taken 1-2 weeks dragged on for approximately four weeks due to their inability to execute even the basics correctly.The quality of work delivered was completely unacceptable. It is abundantly clear much of it was carelessly generated using AI and never properly reviewed. We have since spent countless hours correcting their mistakes, work we should never have had to do.Some of the most serious failures include:Promotions were hard-coded into product descriptions instead of being implemented properly. When promotions ended, they continued displaying in smart collections, misleading customers and creating avoidable complaints and reputational damage.Virtually all product attributes were mislabelled. Blue items were marked as white, red items as black, and so on across the entire catalogue. This fundamentally broke the logic of our smart collections and made filtering unreliable. This is even more frustrating as we filled out a spreadsheet which clearly labeled each item and colour as well as the keywords, they could not even follow that correctly.Basic quality control was clearly nonexistent. For a company charging premium monthly fees, there was zero evidence of professional oversight or verification before delivery.We paid a significant amount of money specifically to avoid these types of issues. We trusted that we were hiring professionals and therefore had no reason to double-check every element of their work. That trust was clearly misplaced.Discovering the full extent of these failures six months later is beyond disappointing, it is infuriating. We have wasted substantial time, money, and internal resources cleaning up a mess that should never have existed. The level of incompetence displayed has had a direct impact on our operations and customer experience.This entire engagement has been a costly mistake which we now have to spend a really long time to rectify. "
