- Project Brief: Create a food and beverage commercial that introduces KFC’s Hot Ranch Big Dip through meta-humor, energetic editing, and culturally relevant talent.
A food and beverage commercial runs on slow-motion hero shots and a voiceover selling the crunch. KFC's "Hot Ranch" spot from Jones Knowles Ritchie skips that, staging a commercial-within-a-commercial that falls apart on camera.
The look goes full rodeo, dressing the lead in head-to-toe orange leather with white fringe and "KFC" stitched across the back. Hay bales, a barn wall, and stacked red buckets push the Western bit past subtle into knowing parody.
The humor rides on the format, framing the shoot in real time so the cast reacts to the Big Dip launch as if it caught them off guard too. A cameo from IShowSpeed pins the piece to a younger, online audience and keeps the energy loud.
Fast cuts and overlapping dialogue sell the chaotic-set feel across a tight 32 seconds. The risk is that the bit runs so hot the actual product, a ranch dip, can slip under the costume and the cameo.
