Extremely Disappointing Experience with Acuity Bookkeeping and Accounting ServicesI hired Acuity to help with bookkeeping and accounting, but the results were frustrating and unprofessional. Instead of properly categorizing transactions and providing accurate reports, almost everything was labeled as "uncategorized," making the books completely unreliable.They set up several automated apps that required me to pay extra subscription fees. None of these tools integrated correctly, and they only made the situation more confusing. Rather than helping me gain financial clarity, their system created more problems and wasted both time and money.I was hoping for experienced support and clean financial records, but what I received was a disorganized mess. I would not recommend Acuity to anyone looking for dependable accounting services.

We we're in a predicament looking at cash-basis accounting to steer our decision-making at the risk of not understanding the true performance of our business. Abby is the BEST, most-knowledgable controller and so easy to communicate with regardless of your inherent accounting knowledge. Acuity has been transformational in moving our financial statements from super lumpy, cash basis to accrual. Amidst our work together, she's been willing to work through low-level transactional work with a smile as well as offering a high-level consultative look at our business, big picture. Can't recommend her enough for your ecommerce struggles!! My bookkeeper unfortunately referred me to Anastasi, Moore & Martin, PLLC. These guys did my taxes for 3 legal entities and It has been a terrible experience for me all the way through. I have had 3 other separate accountants inform me Anastasi, Moore & Martin, PLLC have filed my taxes for 3 of my company’s incorrectly. It will cost me thousands of dollars in IRS fees to amend the mistakes these guys made.1.) Justin and Ryan do not inform you of how they are classifying your company with the IRS. In addition they DO NOT look at the secretary of state website to verify the type of legal entity you have established with the state for example they do not check who the members or managers are on the LLC or corporation, they do not check how your company is structured for example if you are a registered s-corp or c-corp, they just guess on it and try to file your taxes as fast as possible.2.) They filed my corporation as a sole proprietorship when I told them it was a corporation and it obviously is a corporation if they took 2 seconds to look on the secretary of state website and the word Inc.-Incorporated is literally at the end of my company name. Then Justin lies to me over email and states: I told them to file my corporation as a sole proprietorship-which does NOT make sense because even if I did tell them to file my c-corp as a sole proprietorship that would not be legal or ethical to file a corporation as a sole proprietorship3.) Justin and Ryan are both extremely unresponsive and when they do respond it’s with an attitude, they do not provide good customer service at all. Their secretary-Clara then sends my social security number over unsecured email to clarify if it is correct.

I had no idea that I was missing out on tax refunds from previous years that I was entitled to until I talked with Steve Warren at SDK! On a chance meeting with Steve, following disappointing results with a former accountancy firm, I reached out to him. Steve confirmed that I should have received tax refunds from previous years. He "went to work" and proved to be helpful in explaining what needed to be done and with his diligence, research and smart ideas recovered one large refund check and is working on obtaining a second one for me - in short order!I am also working with Steve with both financial and non financial aspects of my estate plan that I am currently putting together. Steve has once again proven to be very knowledgeable, creative and invaluable in my estate planning. I feel fortunate to have "found him"!

I worked with nancy lehrman who works with SDK since the merger of SDK and Leherman Flom and Lehrman in handling my mothers estate, my grandmothers estate and my personal taxes. while handling my mothers estate she worked with lehrman flom and lerhman which was absorbed into sdk. The funny thing is I did not know this until long after fact. which is amusing considering the tens of thousands of dollars that I was paying to Nancy to handle closing the estates of both my mother and grandmother, you would have thunk that deserved a phone call or email, but I didn't get one, this is a reacurring theme with my experience with both Nancy and SDK.She mis filed my personal taxes for 2015 for the state of minnesota resulting in a fine that I had to pay, and went awol towards the end of 2016 through out 2017 while handling my grandmothers estate on both the state and federal level. My grandmothers estate could have been closed by the end of 2016/ early 2017. However, since Nancy completely abdicated her professional responsibilities the eventual closure of the estate did not happen until late winter spring 2018 close to two and a half year after my grandmother passed.I personally went through a difficult time. My family was small consisting of my mother, her sister, and my grandmother. within 13 months I lost both my mother and then my grandmother in that order and I was coming to the grips that at the age of 32 I was pretty much completely alone, without any family in my life. the ammount of work that I needed Nancy to do by the end of 2016 would have taken hours at the most. yet she did not complete this work until winter 2018, further delaying the closure during an extremely difficult time of my life.I am saying this because it is not about money, it is about transformation and trying to get over difficult times. yes I paid nancy a lot of money to handle my families business and yes I expect a certain amount of attention because I am spending that money. Thisis a completely reasonable expectation of a service. after receiving only 3 or 4 responses to countless phone calls and emails over a 18 month period of time I really started to get angry.the problem is Nancy doesn't care, SDK doesn't care, they will tell you that they are accountable and responsible until you shine a light on their fallacies. once that happens they will hide in their cave until you go away. I tried to air my grievances with a managing partner at sdk. I left many messages, never received a response. this is a symptom of a culture amongst this organization.If you are looking for dependable and responsible accountants to handle your financial affairs. I recommend you avoid SDK at all costs.since parting ways with nancy and sdk I went to Abdo EICK AND MEYERS LLP. My experience has been great. check them out.
