Are you finding it incredibly difficult and time consuming to find a graphic designer that is HONEST, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL AND produces QUALITY work that you will absolutely LOVE?I know I was!My name is Cory and I started my electrical contracting business only a few months ago. When I decided to find a graphic designer for my business' branding I reached out to a business community I'm part of on Facebook, asking for peoples experiences with freelancers from Fiverr and Upwork. I received many responses - positive, negative and many more which were completely unrelated. After receiving advice from people to keep away from freelancers on those websites and use Australian graphic designers, I reached out to someone who ran a graphic design business in Melbourne (This was NOT Elk Creative).My experience with this person was disheartening and I terminated the contract due to one of the concept designs being found on an Australian design blog.During this time I also met Corey Dodd from Elk Creative through a Facebook Community. He offered his support, answered any questions I had regarding graphic design and also taught me what steps a graphic designer should take to guarantee they are on the same page as the customer.After speaking with Corey and seeing some of his designs, I was pleased with his quality of work and decided I would ask him for a quote. Unfortunately at the time, the amount he was asking was much more than I had budgeted for.Feeling defeated by the first designer I decided to use two seperate freelancers hoping they might hit the nail on the head whilst keeping my costs down and within budget.My time with the freelancers was long and painful. One copied logos from Shutterstock and kept showing me logos based on the letter "E" despite my instructions saying that is exactly what I didn't want.The other was providing me with sketches and discussed things I liked to an extent, unfortunately I felt that his artistic capabilities weren't up to the standard I wanted. I terminated both contracts.At this point in time, frustration was high and so was my blood pressure - I bit the bullet and increased the budget for the company's branding.I spoke with Corey and let him know the situation with the freelancers. He was kind, understanding, sympathetic and offered his services to me with a payment plan to help me out.This is where my blood pressure came good.Corey and I spoke on the phone for almost an hour regarding the project. He asked me questions about my target market, the colours I would like, the shapes, etc. I had to mention to him that I wasn't going to have a logo with the letter "E", a light bulb, lightning bolt or a power plug.He listened to my requests and created a mood board to capture the idea I had in my mind, to make sure he understood the direction I wanted to head in.I went over the mood board, gave him some extra information - told him I wanted something sharp, like an arrow or triangle, it had to have gradients and had to look professional.I think he absolutely nailed it! NAILED IT!Elk Creative created a brand that I am super proud of. The artwork came out fantastic, so did the business cards and letterhead.I honestly couldn't be happier with the work Corey has done.With his kind gesture, education, support and impeccable work, he managed to make me feel much happier after having 3 bad experiences with other graphic designers.Finally - if you've come across the Elk Creative website and you're considering having them tackle your project, please turn that consideration into a definite decision and contact the team at Elk Creative.You'll be kicking yourself if you go elsewhere, you'll see. "
