Honestly unacceptable. My appointment was cancelled at the exact time it was supposed to start, with no call, just an email from the accountant Sunith Varkey at the appointment time saying « Hi MaryApologies, we are unable to take on new tax filing requests at this stage of tax season.The filing deadline is in 2 days. »A complete lack of respect for clients’ time.There was also zero warning of cancellation from the person who scheduled the appointment. This is even more frustrating considering I wasn’t asking for a full service, just a bit of guidance on a specific issue. Sunith did not even consider to take time to know why I was reaching out.With an important deadline just two days away, this level of unprofessionalism is shocking. If you value your time and expect basic professionalism, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Acuity Bookkeeping and Accounting ServicesI hired Acuity to help with bookkeeping and accounting, but the results were frustrating and unprofessional. Instead of properly categorizing transactions and providing accurate reports, almost everything was labeled as "uncategorized," making the books completely unreliable.They set up several automated apps that required me to pay extra subscription fees. None of these tools integrated correctly, and they only made the situation more confusing. Rather than helping me gain financial clarity, their system created more problems and wasted both time and money.I was hoping for experienced support and clean financial records, but what I received was a disorganized mess. CSI Accounting may try to spin this by saying they offered me a new accountant or that taking onboarding fees from my account—after our relationship was terminated—was warranted. It was not.The truth: I received no tax advice, no business guidance, and no real onboarding. The only thing they provided was payroll, which I paid for separately. My assigned tax person came to our meeting without reviewing my file, admitted to being new to the systems, and openly struggled to use them.Charging me for this is indefensible. Withholding services, then helping themselves to my business account after termination, destroyed any trust. Whatever they claim, the fact is simple: I paid for services I never received.I hired CSI Accounting to support my business with the expectation of receiving high-quality service based on their confident promises. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. Despite the strong sales pitch, they failed to deliver on key aspects of their service.When I raised concerns and requested a fair negotiation regarding payment for services that were never rendered, they abruptly ended our relationship “effective immediately.” I then began formally disputing those charges through my American Express account. Rather than respond to the dispute in good faith or allow the process to play out, CSI took an entirely inappropriate step: they bypassed the dispute process and directly accessed my business checking account—without my consent—to withdraw the same funds.This withdrawal occurred more than a week after our business relationship had already been terminated and without any form of authorization from me. I did not give permission for this transaction, and their actions represent a serious breach of both trust and professional ethics.

I wanted to reach out and personally thank Brown Edwards! Specifically Bradley. I recently lost my mother, father and brother and inherited some money and investments. Me, being a scared 20 something year old grieving the loss of my family, reached out to my financial advisor who told me brown edwards could help me. He notified me in advanced of the expensive cost of their services but I was more than willing to pay the price to have peace of mind and the help of experts. I called brown edwards and was transferred to Bradley P. We discussed the cost and I notified him I was more than willing to pay that price. Bradley laughed and kindly notified me that they typically only handle the “top of the top in Roanoke”and said i could be better served by a company that rhymes with “hr clock”. So, I contacted that company and guess what? The man I spoke with actually used to work for Brown Edwards! He left his position there to travel the world and Spend time with his family, And he was able to help me and my silly step up in basis concerns, at only a fraction of the cost! So I personally would love to thank Bradley for laughing in the face of a scared young woman who lost each and every one of her immediate family members, for making me cry when I was at my lowest, and recommending a different company. I will also add the receptionist was 10/10 she was very sweet and apologized on his behalf

I have been using RKKM for years for my taxes and have been very happy with them. This year has been different. Though I had my information there on 3/3 and met with Bruce on 3/10, a month later I still have no information on my return or how much I owe. He indicated it was " probably a standard return". A phone call from me a month later revealed that they were e-mailing a question to an incorrect address. When they got no response for 2 weeks, they did not try a phone number. Someone other than Bruce was doing my return and did not have the information given to Bruce on the 10th of March. Seems their recent merger adversely effected their communications. Pain often enacts change and growth. A series of unfortunate events with a previous firm brought us to RKL a few years ago, and we could not be more relieved. We instantly felt the safety net of professional expertise in every area of our business. Not only are they extremely good at what they do, but RKL is also proactive in constantly looking for ways to improve us financially and operationally. We REALLY knew we had hit the jackpot when Covid-19 swung RKL into action, way ahead of their competitors, with the weekly Friday webinars open to clients and not-yet clients alike. This inspired idea of RKL's was a lifeline to our sanity as we all navigated this together, and literally put RKL on the front page. I have learned that if they offer advice or answer a question, it's been well researched and is spot on. We are so VERY grateful for our tax, corporate audit, and pension audit team.

RKL CPA services really went down the drain for the last couple of years. Jim needs to either retire or let someone else take care of his position. When he obviously knows something, he would reply like he doesn't. It's almost like he is acting like a 16 year working at Mc Donalds, filling up time for a PayCheck and doing everything he can not get involved in any project. I can't believe his title is a partner since he really doesn't act like he is doing anything to improve company revenues. Multiple mistakes from different associates; they can't even hold on to their commitment to calling the client on time. Associates unable to look at a paper and type the information into the computer without making spelling mistakes. Just overall, I completely lost my trust in them to handle something as crucial as taxes.
