TDF provided us with product management, development, and strategic consultation. We started to build the product with an individual and had initial wireframes and mock-ups, but the project quickly grew larger than an individual person could handle. TDF evaluated what we had and gave us feedback, then created a plan to replace and fix what had already been done. They started with extensive customer development-- something we missed the first time around-- so their new wireframes and plans were based on what our customers actually wanted. Then, they executed the plan.In addition to the development work, they also took care of logo and design work. They used Amazon Web Services for our platform. We have multiple features such as an API, database, and an administration tool for our own interface. We have a provider tool for facilities to update their data within the database. People can find resources on our web page, web application, and an iOS and Android app. We continue to work with them and have found it more effective and efficient to use them as a virtual outsourced department.

We are a consulting firm that specializes in working with healthcare organizations who are seeking to become accredited, stay accredited, or are working with particular healthcare legal compliance issues that we specialize in. The management of a typical accreditation process is complex for both the applicants and consultants providing them with help, so we wanted technology to help simplify and clarify that process. The Development Factory developed and designed two important pieces of software for us that have gone through multiple iterations over the years. The most important is an online project management platform that has all of our resources in one place and allows us to have secure communications with our clients and exchange documents and feedback important to the accreditation process. The platform also provides dashboards for our clients that allow clients to track their process and see how they're doing based on our scoring system that scores any documentation that will be sent to accreditation organizations. The second piece of software TDF built is a training program called AccrediTrain. We had a training software before, but they built a new self-service version that is completely automated, allowing a client to schedule a training for their employees without having to involve any of my staff. As a result of the work TDF did for our firm, we are now able to handle a larger number of clients with the same number of staff, helping us to increase our revenues by a factor of four.Beyond that, the reactions to our platforms have been outstanding. Just recently a new client was having her first experience with Goldfinch and she said it was just amazing. Another client of ours is a competitor and asked us for help on a project. This is an organization that has a particularly sophisticated knowledge about the accreditation process, and their CEO and president was very impressed by our software platforms. They really listened to our description of what we do and how we do it and then turned that into software that quite beautifully captures what we do and how we do it. They clearly care about us and our satisfaction.

What is an IoT (Internet of Things) development company?
An IoT development company is a specialized company that provides custom solutions, devices, applications, and software underlined by IoT technology.
This technology enables businesses to control their connected devices remotely while improving their security, efficiency, and productivity through better monitoring and automation.
How does an IoT agency help businesses build connected products?
An IoT agency helps businesses build connected products by guiding them through the entire development process, from strategy and design to hardware selection, IoT software development, data integration, and security implementation.
It builds IoT systems, software, and hardware to help businesses solve digital challenges and explore new revenue streams. IoT solution providers also integrate these systems into existing IT environments and provide continuous maintenance and support to businesses.
Which industries benefit the most from IoT development services?
Manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, retail, energy, and transportation industries benefit the most from IoT development services. They use IoT for predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, process automation, and enhancing customer experiences.
Smart cities, telecom, and financial services also take advantage of IoT for connected infrastructure, network management, and security. Overall, sectors with asset-heavy operations or high data demands benefit the most through improved efficiency, cost savings, and better service delivery.
What are the top-rated IoT development companies on DesignRush in 2025?
Top-rated IoT development companies on DesignRush in 2025 are the following:
What’s the cost range for IoT development in 2025?
IoT development companies charge $5,500 on average for IoT prototyping. A minimum viable product (MVP) can cost between $30,000 and $50,000, with a finished project running up to millions of dollars.
The significant variation in pricing stems from the fact that rates are predominantly influenced by the project's complexity, scale, and timeline.
How quickly can an IoT development company deliver a prototype or solution?
An IoT development company can typically deliver a prototype in 4-12 weeks, depending on complexity, available hardware, and required integrations. Simple proof-of-concepts (like basic sensor-to-app connectivity) may be ready in a month.
A full production-ready solution often takes 3-9 months, depending on custom hardware design, security requirements, regulatory compliance, and scaling needs.
What should you look for when selecting an IoT development partner?
When selecting an IoT development partner, look for the following:
Proven IoT experience
Solid hardware and software integration knowledge
Familiarity with security and compliance
Expertise in cloud and scalability
Cross-industry insights
What warning signs indicate that a potential IoT development company may not be the right fit?
A potential IoT development company may not be the best fit if it shows some of the following warning signs:
Absence of case studies
Outdated tools and technologies
Lack of robust security protocols
Frequent reports of downtime, hacks, and compliance issues
Vendor lock-ins
Poor collaboration skills
High employee turnover rate
What key questions should you ask before hiring an IoT development company?
Before hiring an IoT development company, ask the following questions:
Have you worked with similar companies, industries, or projects before?
Can you walk me through your IoT development process?
What technologies, programming languages, and platforms do you use to build an IoT system?
What are your systems for securing data collected on IoT devices? How do you ensure legal and ethical compliance?
What security protocols do you have to safeguard against security breaches and potential cyber-attacks?
How much do your services cost? Do you charge per hour, per month, per result, or a flat fee?
What is my estimated project timeline?
How will you integrate the IoT solution with my current tech stack?
How does IoT development differ from standard software or embedded systems projects?
IoT development integrates hardware, connectivity, and cloud systems, requiring expertise in sensors, communication protocols, and real-time data handling. Traditional software focuses mainly on apps or servers without managing physical devices.
Unlike embedded systems, IoT extends beyond standalone device logic by enabling internet connectivity, remote updates, and large-scale data analytics. It emphasizes scalability and security, while embedded projects usually focus on localized, device-specific functionality.
