They organize some of the best tech talks in New York City. While I've never worked with or for them, the projects they've presented that are their own, including the shareable comprehensive Simpson's website, imply that their design thinking is as on point as their thought leadership events.

They may be great to deal with where the app development is done. But there is a behind-the-scenes aspect of BNR which few people are aware of; their "app optimization platform". You're paid via crypto currency and it seems legitimate at first, but then you need to add your own crypto funds to get paid, to the point where it becomes unsustainable and you have to walk away at a loss because their "system" does not permit funds withdrawal through this cycle of work called "tasks". I'm out approx. $1500 US because of their scheme and I walked away when they wanted another $1500 for me to be able to continue. Their task scheme uses your pay to increase the amount they keep when you're given a "bous" task where the profit is tripled, but not without your contribution to continue has to be doubled. See the pattern? The word their Customer Service people often used was "Capitalism". This is not capitalism, it's fraud. They have been reported to the FTC and I've reached out to their legal dept. They won't even respond, which is telling.

I would have never known about this place if it weren't for the group I was there with. It's nicely done and the industrial architectural elements give your eyes a treat. I don't know much about what all businesses are there but whatever they are, Big Nerd Ranch seems a very nice place to be in.

I temped being the front desk office manager for a while while they searched for a permanent replacement for my position. I received many calls at the front desk about the job while I was there for about two months because of their LinkedIn ad for the job. I really felt for those guys for applying and calling. I would transfer those calls to HR through out the two months, but despite the calls and the many LinkedIn applications the HR manager told me the hiring process wasn't "Looking so good." I gave them my two weeks because I had to leave early for financial reasons and because I was going to be moving soon. Even after that they weren't prepared for me to leave when I told them I would... Despite all that, the work environment is wonderful and the employees were very nice :)
