- Project Brief: Create Halloween-themed packaging for McDonald’s Spooky Sauces Face Paint campaign, transforming six signature dips into collectible makeup palettes with sauce-inspired colors, fry-shaped brushes, and a Chicken McNugget-inspired sponge.
Food and beverage packaging gets noticed fast when it copies something fans could spot from across the room. Leo UK turned six McDonald’s UK dips into Spooky Sauces, a Halloween face paint kit made for creators and fans to share online.
Each palette wears a label styled like a McDonald’s dip lid, printed in the sauce’s own color with the M on top. Puns like Tomb-Mato Ketchup and Garlic MayOoOo sit beside a small Halloween icon, from vampire fangs to a cartoon ghost.
Even the fine print plays along, suggesting Boo-Boo-Q for looks like burger patties and takeaway bags. A “Best Used On: Halloween” stamp takes the place of a best-before date.
Inside the black case, two fry-shaped brushes and a Chicken McNugget sponge rest on red velvet below a built-in mirror. On the lid, dripping white letters spell Spooky Sauce under the golden arches, so the kit reads as a collectible before anyone opens it.
