Designing a website for the California Department of Education means that we serve a varied user base and must adhere to the highest accessibility standards. Black Flag took input from internal teams, educators, and other interested parties that would be accessing and using the site. They adapted their designs to meet the needs of various types of users, coming up with not only attractive design elements, but created code that added automation to eliminate some of the manual updates. In a year with only 20 hours of effort a month we went from getting an average position of 45 with 1,500 impressions and 8 clicks a day; to an average position of 30 with 10,000 impressions and 18 clicks a day. The implementation of a theme was previously botched by another company and Smile Media was able to come in and work on fixing those issues while still focusing on SEO boosting.
