Not bad for taxes. Communication is horrid and nobody knows what’s going on. They act like they do, but they don’t. They prioritize “keeping clients” over quality and trust. Not for nothing but there always seems to be some kind of excuse for why they can’t help me. They should hire more staff instead of putting me down. It causes me more stress. You know that scene in Christmas Vacation where Clark gets a Jelly of the Month club "gift" instead of a bonus? Well, that's the equivalent of what we just got from HPG. After using HPG as both our business and personal accountants for YEARS, we received a letter in the mail on Christmas Eve (!) stating that, effective immediately, they would no longer be our accountants due to a staffing shortage. There was no warning months or weeks ahead (I assume this staffing issue didn't suddenly arise on December 24), no phone call, no referral to a different accountant, no consideration that year-end taxes and the work therein goes into high gear just 8 days later. Just buhbye. We were not happy with their overpriced yet mediocre service, but it's a real pain to find a new accountant, so we stayed. I guess we can thank them for their lack of any sort of consideration or care towards us, as it forces us to finally find a better fit.

Should you use HPG for accounting services? Yes, if you want your payroll tax submissions to be filed late and have to pay late fees. Yes, if you don't expect to get any email or phone responses from their partners. Yes, if you expect to pay higher fees than other accounting firms. I had no idea that I was missing out on tax refunds from previous years that I was entitled to until I talked with Steve Warren at SDK! On a chance meeting with Steve, following disappointing results with a former accountancy firm, I reached out to him. Steve confirmed that I should have received tax refunds from previous years. He "went to work" and proved to be helpful in explaining what needed to be done and with his diligence, research and smart ideas recovered one large refund check and is working on obtaining a second one for me - in short order! I am also working with Steve with both financial and non financial aspects of my estate plan that I am currently putting together. Steve has once again proven to be very knowledgeable, creative and invaluable in my estate planning. I feel fortunate to have "found him"!

I worked with nancy lehrman who works with SDK since the merger of SDK and Leherman Flom and Lehrman in handling my mothers estate, my grandmothers estate and my personal taxes. while handling my mothers estate she worked with lehrman flom and lerhman which was absorbed into sdk. The funny thing is I did not know this until long after fact. which is amusing considering the tens of thousands of dollars that I was paying to Nancy to handle closing the estates of both my mother and grandmother, you would have thunk that deserved a phone call or email, but I didn't get one, this is a reacurring theme with my experience with both Nancy and SDK. She mis filed my personal taxes for 2015 for the state of minnesota resulting in a fine that I had to pay, and went awol towards the end of 2016 through out 2017 while handling my grandmothers estate on both the state and federal level. My grandmothers estate could have been closed by the end of 2016/ early 2017. However, since Nancy completely abdicated her professional responsibilities the eventual closure of the estate did not happen until late winter spring 2018 close to two and a half year after my grandmother passed. I personally went through a difficult time. My family was small consisting of my mother, her sister, and my grandmother. within 13 months I lost both my mother and then my grandmother in that order and I was coming to the grips that at the age of 32 I was pretty much completely alone, without any family in my life. the ammount of work that I needed Nancy to do by the end of 2016 would have taken hours at the most. yet she did not complete this work until winter 2018, further delaying the closure during an extremely difficult time of my life. I am saying this because it is not about money, it is about transformation and trying to get over difficult times. yes I paid nancy a lot of money to handle my families business and yes I expect a certain amount of attention because I am spending that money. Thisis a completely reasonable expectation of a service. after receiving only 3 or 4 responses to countless phone calls and emails over a 18 month period of time I really started to get angry. the problem is Nancy doesn't care, SDK doesn't care, they will tell you that they are accountable and responsible until you shine a light on their fallacies. once that happens they will hide in their cave until you go away. I tried to air my grievances with a managing partner at sdk. I left many messages, never received a response. this is a symptom of a culture amongst this organization. If you are looking for dependable and responsible accountants to handle your financial affairs. I recommend you avoid SDK at all costs. since parting ways with nancy and sdk I went to Abdo EICK AND MEYERS LLP. My experience has been great. check them out.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Boyle, Deveny & Meyer. When I first met with their CPA, I was told my tax preparation fee would be about $100 more than what I paid my previous accountant. That seemed reasonable given that they are a larger firm. What I did not expect was a bill that was $725 higher than that estimate. I was never given a written quote or a fee schedule. This lack of transparency feels misleading at best and deceptive at worst. I sent a formal letter to Boyle, Deveny & Meyer expressing my concerns about their billing practices and received no response whatsoever. That kind of disregard for clients is unacceptable. In the end, I paid what I was quoted—last year’s fee plus $100—and they cashed the check without issue. I would strongly caution others to get everything in writing and be very careful when dealing with this firm.

I first contacted BDM on 1/17/2025 about doing my taxes. Two weeks later on 1/30/2025 I had a short conversation with an employee who asked me basic onboard info and he said that an accountant would reach out in 3 weeks to start my taxes. Today, on 2/18/2025 I received an email from the firm saying that they aren't taking on new clients and wishing me luck. This puts me in a difficult situation finding a new accountant this late into the season. It is also highly unprofessional to string me along for a full month just to tell me they aren' taking on new clients. So to recap: 1. 1/17/2025 I contact BDM. 2. 1/30/2025 BDM calls me to ask me basic onboard questions. I'm told that an accountant will reach out in 3 weeks to do my taxes. 3. 2/18/2025 I receive an email saying they're not taking on new clients, even though they told me last month they would. Find an accountant who respects your time, because this firm certainly does not.

Dr Oullette and his team (Cyndi, Mandy, Samantha, lab guys) have changed my life for the better. I used to be scared of the dentist, and while procedures may be daunting, at this office I feel completely secure, cared for, and calm. Their customer service and work ethic is impeccable, and I would never dream of a dentist office with such a nice vibe! If you are like I was, avoiding the dentist, this is your place. I have been using RKKM for years for my taxes and have been very happy with them. This year has been different. Though I had my information there on 3/3 and met with Bruce on 3/10, a month later I still have no information on my return or how much I owe. He indicated it was " probably a standard return". A phone call from me a month later revealed that they were e-mailing a question to an incorrect address. When they got no response for 2 weeks, they did not try a phone number. Someone other than Bruce was doing my return and did not have the information given to Bruce on the 10th of March. Seems their recent merger adversely effected their communications. In a week I have to mail in my return. I still do not know if I owe $6, $600 or $6000.
