    Team Process/Journey:
    Our team took followed an agile methodology and approach to this project.

    • Conducted stakeholder interviews with members of the H&S marketing and management teams to learn about specific challenges with their existing system and ideas for improvements

    • Our UX team laid out the information architecture for the new platform with a more intuitive sitemap. We created detailed wireframes for the consumer-facing pages as well as each of the user groups’ dashboards.

    • We produced detailed user stories for multiple user groups - Customers, franchisees, and website administrators.

    • Flowcharts were mapped out for each customer type’s journey from the homepage to the appointment booking confirmation page.

    ChallengeAfter five editions of consistently high-quality publications, the American Cancer Society and Vital Strategies sought to create a more readable and engaging experience for users perusing the Atlas. With loads of data and no clear hierarchy of where to look or go next, they wanted the Sixth Edition of the Tobacco Atlas to capitalize on interactive opportunities, have a stronger narrative, a unified visual language, and an easy-to-use digital system both for users and administrators.
    SolutionOne of the main challenges with the previous print report was that it overwhelmed the readers with data and the content flow was cluttered. To fix this, we prioritized the creation of a narrative, using an illustrator to draw custom visuals for every chapter to connect the reader to the content. We also trimmed down the amount of data by prioritizing what needed to be in print and what could live online-only, and then designed clear invitations for the reader to find more on the website.
    For the interactive version of the Tobacco Atlas, we took these same strong visual and narrative storytelling principles guiding the print design, and leveraged interactive elements and web best practices to create a digital resource. What were static maps in the print report are now dynamic data visualizations, and the illustrative components create a unique experience for the user. Through powerful calls to action (CTAs) and intentional UX design, we worked hard to better anticipate ways to keep the user on the site and engaged. The website is also translated into multiple languages, making it accessible to a broader audience.

    Mercado Little Spain

    VIEW THE SITEINTRODUCTION
    Mercado Little Spain in the newest venture from renowned chef, entrepreneur, and philanthropist José Andrés, and his first ever in CMYK’s hometown of New York City. Andrés has restaurants all across the globe and is well-known for his charitable work throughout Latin America, Africa, and the United States, and so we made sure to provide him with our warmest of welcomes—that is, a beautifully designed website, of course! Comprised of more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space in the newly constructed Hudson Yards neighborhood of Manhattan, Mercado Little Spain is a food hall unlike any other, with numerous restaurants, bars, and a sprawling marketplace that all focus on the unique culinary history of Spain, jamón and all.
    WHAT WE DID
    Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup came to us with a massive amount of design collateral, including unique logos and brand guidelines for each individual restaurant and bar, stylized design elements reminiscent of Moorish tile, and fonts and typeface, and asked us to coalesce these varied pieces into an approachable and beautiful whole. Partnering with the fabulous team at BentoBox—a new content management system that specializes in restaurant websites and content—CMYK took these patterns, signs, and colors and used them to evoke the style and passion Andrés’ project, so that the digital home for Mercado Little Spain truly becomes an extension of its physical space.Realizing that the website would also serve as a visitors’ guide for the marketplace, we also designed and developed a fully interactive map for people to both plan their trips from home and guide themselves within the hall using their mobile devices. And finally, as with all our web projects, we also made a point of designing and developing in full compliance with ADA rules and regulations, so that the site is user-friendly and accessible to all.

    Co-founder Chris Langer incorporates cutting-edge interactivity and multimedia in all of his work – whether developing Webby-award winning websites, creating innovative platforms for multiuser content networks, or mounting interactive installations at events like DUMBO Arts Festival.

    Adam Scher

    A media artist and choreographer originally from Southern California, Adam Scher brings a strong aesthetic to the creative and art direction of all projects at CMYK. His broad experience and background act as a foundation to create innovative and unique design solutions.

    Alexes is senior producer and account manager for CMYK. She attended Florida State University, where she earned a degree in Economics. Alexes started her career in food—working with restaurants, producers, and suppliers on their photography, marketing, and brand strategy.

    Pavaris Ketavanan

    Pavaris is our native Brooklynite. He’s a recent grad from Stony Brook University where studied Computer Engineering and dabbled with digital arts. If he’s not working on his renowned CSS animations, he’s making the office his autonomous playground with a couple of Raspberry Pis and an Amazon Echo.

    Kevin Freeman

    A Long Island native, Kevin Freeman has been working with CMYK for two years now. At CUNY-Brooklyn College, he spent his undergrad studying television and radio production. This is where he expanded his interest and knowledge in the world of film, photography and live productions.

    Josh Tottee

    Josh hails from Palo Alto, California and brings an interdisciplinary approach to his designs. An economics major from Yale University, he focuses on merging user-centric, creative, and clean designs with the client’s business strategy.

    Maya Arguelles

    Maya is an undergraduate pursuing a degree in computer science and design at New York University. She first discovered her love of web design through creating custom web pages for her Neopets, where you can usually find her when she’s not in class, at CMYK, or somewhere underground between the two.

    Adam Arthur

    Adam is the studio manager for CMYK, with a degree from The New School in Manhattan and a work history that spans book publishing, disaster and crisis management, and experiential marketing.

    Elisa Karjalainen

    Elisa is currently attending Pratt for a BFA in communication design.

    Iris Kim

    Iris is currently working with CMYK on a year long internship through her vocational high school.

    CLIENT NEWS: Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) are a consultancy that focuses on delivering improved business performance.




    Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) are a consultancy that focuses on delivering improved business performance to clients of all sizes through its network of offices in 33 countries around the world.
    With such a large coverage and so many variations in language and market, ERA wanted a solution that would present a unified brand and messaging, but that could be adapted to meet the needs of the individual office.
    Through workshops and an extensive speccing process, we were able to explore the best means of achieving ERAs complex requirements. The websites were built in WordPress as ease of editing and search engine optimisation were essential.

    The websites were made specifically with lead generation in mind. The opportunity to take the next step is never more than a click away and an eCRM linked form is displayed quickly wherever you are on the site.
    Crowd also provided training for both UK and US teams.
    We’re happy to say that leads have increased by 200% since the site was launched and the site has been very well received by the international team at ERA and by their customers old and new.
    We have loved working with ERA and look forward to supporting them on their digital marketing projects in the coming months!

    Travel advertising tends to fall into one of two extremes. You’re either faced with high-pressure sales tactics where deals expire, rooms run out and there’s always pressure to “book now” or suffer the consequences. Or they prey on people’s FOMO, pushing the idyllic, and often unrealistic, dream vacation
    But on Hotwire, deals never run out. This inspired us to take the pressure out of a high-pressure category in a campaign we aptly call The No Pressure Zone. In this paradoxical wrinkle in time, deals are available for an unlimited time always and supplies last all the while. So you can book now. Or later. Or whenever. With the laid-back Martin Starr as our anti-spokesperson and Karl as his super chill spokesgoat, this fantastical world was a much-needed respite from the high-pressure sales tactics of a FOMO-filled category.

    FOUNDRY and BUMBLE spread the love throughout the streets of Berlin with a 360 campaign. With over 40 million users in 160 countries, Bumble is not only fastest growing dating app today, but the first one of its kind where “women make the first move.”BUMBLE not only provides a platform for dating and finding love, users can also use the app to expand their network of awesome people by choosing between three categories: “dating,” “friendship” and “business.”We created a campaign specific to Berlin, where billboards were placed in strategically selected locations around the city.At the core of the headline campaign are apt references targeted towards audiences between the ages of 18 and 35. The messages play to specific and local stereotypes of different Berlin neighborhoods while addressing such topics as dating, friendships, business and especially female empowerment.
    Foundry was responsible for the entire media campaign which included making sure the billboards were
    placed in the most suitable locations in Berlin.

    Malibu Because Summer

    In a saturated market, Malibu Rum was looking to position itself as the ultimate summer drink, and ensure that they were on top of everyone’s mind this season while building on the ‘Because Summer’ story. IMA developed a multi-layered influencer strategy to support Malibu’s 2017-2018 global campaign. Top-tier influencers were cast to appear in multiple digital videos and share their own spin on the #becausesummer theme, and a layer of micro influencers rounded up the promotion with personalised social media content.There were three main activations, which included a CSR partnership with Earthwatch, a hero influencer digital ad, and prank show stunt.
