Amsive Success Story

  • Challenge: VOSS, a once iconic luxury water brand, faced an image challenge — despite its sleek design, the brand was perceived as superficial. To regain its prestige and appeal to a new generation of discerning consumers, VOSS needed to shift its focus to the quality and natural origin of its water.
  • Solution: Using Audience Science, Amsive analyzed VOSS's audience to understand brand perceptions and media habits. Based on these insights, the agency developed a new brand positioning and launched the 'It’s What’s on the Inside' platform to highlight VOSS’s premium quality. This was supported by a creative media campaign across digital, social, TV, and premium media placements.

  • Solution: MuteSix helped Dave improve its average revenue per user (ARPU) and ROAS by optimizing its paid social and search campaigns. The performance marketing company focused on lower-funnel events, created engaging short-form video content for Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat, and implemented keyword-level bidding to ramp up interest for “Summer of Dave,”. Digital Advertising Review from Lucy Ji

We brought Y'all in to audit our Meta and Google campaigns and tell us what was broken. They dug into campaign setups, creative performance, audience targeting, and spend efficiency, then handed us a clear, actionable plan to fix it. The results were hard to argue with. ROAS jumped 184.6%, purchase routing became smoother, and our budget started working a lot harder. What impressed us most was how tailored everything felt. They took the time to understand our brand before making a single recommendation. Nothing was generic. They also walked us through the findings in a recorded session and hosted a live Q&A so nothing got lost in translation. Professional, responsive, and genuinely collaborative from start to finish. No complaints at all.

Y'all has been fantastic to work with for us, a small e-commerce company heading into a scaling year. We found Y'all when looking to up our creative game in 2026 and have been thrilled with their ideas and execution, as well as how quickly they have learned our brand. We quickly brought them on to do paid media buying as well and they have been instrumental in helping us scale spend and revenue during our busy season. Most importantly, they are collaborative, responsive, smart and data driven. For a boostrapped ecomm brand, bringing on agencies is always a huge financial commitment and it can be nerve wracking. Y'all's founder and team clearly care about their clients and outcomes, they go the extra mile, and they are committed to their success. We find them to be true partners.

      5.0

Performance Marketing Review from Neha Salgaonkar

When we started working with Y'all, we were spending just $2,000 to $3,000 a month on Meta. Our goal was to scale that spend profitably while keeping customer acquisition costs in check. They did exactly that. New customer acquisition grew measurably and ROAS moved in the right direction, all without blowing past our CAC targets. What made them stand out was how plugged in they were. The team monitored our account closely, often sending daily updates and making quick adjustments without needing to be prompted. They never felt like an outside agency. They genuinely cared about the brand and it showed in how they worked. No complaints from our end.

      eCommerce Development Review from Undisclosed

We have been working with First Pier for almost 10 years now, beginning with the launch of our women’s boutique E-Commerce business. First Pier has been responsible for our e-commerce store design, web development, e-commerce SEO, digital strategy, online marketing campaigns and beyond ever since. As a already successful brick and mortar retailer, we saw an opportunity to reach beyond our existing customer bases in Portland, Maine & Portsmouth, New Hampshire by creating an online shopping experience accessible 24/7 and nationwide. First Pier has helped us turn that vision into reality by taking us from no online store and zero sales to a dependable thriving new channel for our business that continues to grow. Our experience with Shopify started when First Pier migrated our site from Magento to a Shopify website. Since First Pier is a designated Shopify Expert, we knew we could trust them with the daunting task of moving all of our products, accounts, and customer history to our new Shopify site. They made the transition to a new e-commerce system painless by ensuring our hands were held along the way, we were thoroughly trained, and none of the SEO ranking keywords were lost. We continue to work with First Pier on expanding our use of Google Shopping SEO and will be implementing Shopify’s Point of Sale in the coming year as part of a continued effort to deliver a unified customer experience at our stores. As a small women’s boutique based in Maine, we are now able to deliver our customer experience to tourist and seasonal customers where they are year round. We would recommend First Pier to anyone looking to build or update a Shopify store.

First Pier has been so helpful with the transition to shopify. After initially setting it up they provided us with great documentation on how to use the site and they've continued to support us through any issues that arise.

      Shopify Review from Undisclosed

First Pier helped us move, update, and launch our online business on Shopify. As a high-traffic bakery, it was important to us that customers buying from around the country were able to view the quality of our products, feel the vibe of our Portland and South Portland shops, and trust that their order would be as special as a visit to our Maine bakery. First Pier delivered mouth-watering e-commerce product photography, an easy-to-use site, and supported us every step of the way. Our shoppable site is now optimized, accurately reflects our brand, and has poised us for growth.

Kenny and team (Katie, Ann and more) are wonderful to work with. They will help your business and they will make it easy for you. They helped our business on several fronts including website redesign, marketing and even resolved some internal IT issues that I did not have the knowledge or time to address. From my 1st meeting with Kenny it was apparent he was very experienced and he did a great job of listening to our needs while making seasoned suggestions as to what would work best for a business like ours. Kenny always has a solution and they fulfilled the scope of work we agreed too in a very professional manner. Forest City's assistance did not end when the site was launched, instead over the next few months they helped out with any issue or question I had. He made several videos on how to work with our new site and simply made everything easy for us. Couldn't be happier with this company, feel fortunate we were able to work with them and I look forward to working with them again. I highly recommend this business.

Ilk Agency was the absolute dream team! Throughout a long term marketing campaign, they were attentive each and every step of the way. Shauna was fantastic, so organised and clearly so experienced and knowledgeable in leading our campaign. Lauren, and Evie were so skilled and attentive in managing our social accounts and we so creative in all they produced for us. Working with Ilk Agency put us at ease and we were confident at the end we went with the best possible agency . They had gone above and beyond what we requested. Highly recommend!

Bringing alive the vision for a big campaign like Generation Logistics can’t have been easy, but ilk’s work has been outstanding. From initial naming and concept, to creative, website, social and PR, they’ve become a seamless extension of our team. After surpassing our KPIs, and bringing multiple high profile industry stakeholders along for the journey, we have every confidence that Year 2 and beyond will be just as big a success.

We have been working with ilk for over two years, and they have been a great team to collaborate with, friendly and supportive. We are really pleased with our increase in PR in both the consumer and trade magazines. A key highlight has been the My Windows and Me campaign where we used a minimal marketing budget, but with the PR content and the other key channels such as social and email marketing, helped created possible leads worth over £1.5 million generating great business for our installer network. We are excited to see how the partnership develops and our plans for 2024.

Hoping to receive a response and that you'll take immediate action (finally). There's been a scam circulating online for quite some time, pretending to be you! Be careful, because people who don't know what they're talking about will assume you're the scammers. If you give me an email address where I can write, I'll send you screenshots. Even a journalist mentioned it. How come you haven't noticed?

For the past 10 years we have struggled as a business to find the right fit for us to help our business grow in the digital world. We have tried everything from several mom and pop type businesses to the larger operations and media companies such as WRAL. We paid so much only to find that we got little to no results and we often were left doing all the footwork on our end. But then we found Diamond Group! We were pretty jaded after spending so much time and money on digital advertising previously, so it took them some time to convince us. They explained how they could help and made sure to not over promise and under deliver. They set clear and real expectations for us and didn't just promise us the world just to reel us in. Our team has been absolutley amazing! From Daniel who checked in every few months to see if we were ready to give them a chance to Jessica and Miranda who are our project managers. The knowledge, expertise and attention to detail has been stellar! Jessica and her team have gone above and beyond to help us in so many ways. Our business had some unique challanges and they worked with us every step of the way to navigate and ultimately solve those challenges. The resposiveness of our team is beyond impressive. Anytime we have an issue or idea they are on it so fast. And most importantly our phones have been ringing off the hook! We even had to bring in some extra help just to handle the call volume. We are so impressed by them that if anyone out there is reading this and on the fence about hiring them feel free to call our office and we will be happy to vouche for them. Hiring Diamond Group is the best decision we have made in a very long time!

Performance Marketing Agency Hiring Guide

What is a performance marketing agency?

A performance marketing agency is an agency that manages and optimizes digital marketing campaigns across various channels to achieve performance goals, like increased conversions and maximized return on investment (ROI).

People may confuse performance marketing with paid media marketing, like pay-per-click (PPC). While the latter focuses on creating brand awareness and generating traffic, performance marketing services concentrate on generating measurable results and a positive ROI. PPC and other paid advertising efforts, and even SEO, are considered part of performance marketing.

Some companies may also believe that handling performance marketing in-house will save them money, but it's more complex than merely launching ads across different platforms. For example, about 35.7% of global online users use ad blockers, which can significantly reduce the effectiveness of online advertising efforts. This statistic highlights just one of the many challenges that performance marketing companies are equipped to handle expertly:

  • Inadequate expertise across various aspects of performance marketing
  • Insufficient grasp of digital marketing strategies and industry best practices
  • Difficulty with ad bidding and related strategies, leading to inefficient ad spend
  • Lack of manpower and low budget for necessary tools and technologies
  • Limited access to advanced marketing and analytics tools that hinder campaign performance
  • Struggling to scale campaigns quickly in response to market changes or business needs
  • Inexperience in analyzing complex data sets to effectively optimize campaigns
  • Inability to measure results and track ROI across various digital marketing campaigns
  • Difficulty keeping up with fast-evolving trends, making it hard to remain competitive
  • Lack of access to valuable industry networks and partnerships that could enhance marketing efforts

Statista estimates that global digital advertising spending will reach $646 billion in 2024 and skyrocket to a whopping $870.85 billion by 2027. What this means is the battle to win customers will be even tougher, especially for small businesses with limited resources.

Success story

You may have a marketing target, but knowing the right strategy and metrics to use can be a complex thing. We chose the following case study to demonstrate how a performance marketing company’s expertise successfully guided a business toward achieving its year-on-year (YoY) revenue goals:

  • Challenge: AHLA Insurance heavily relied on year-over-year performance data to track growth in policy purchases, revenue, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and return on ad spend (ROAS). However, in 2023, it encountered revenue and profitability challenges, including rising cost per click (CPC) on Google Ads and inconsistent tracking on Microsoft Ads.
  • Solution: To address AHLA's revenue goals, Black Propeller implemented a focused paid search strategy on Google and Microsoft Ads, prioritizing core insurance products, such as vacant land insurance policy. The performance marketing agency also leveraged Google Ad’s Performance Max to expand reach and revenue and launched a YouTube video remarketing campaign targeting site visitors who hadn't completed a purchase.
  • Results: The strategy resulted in a remarkable 151% increase in policy purchases for core insurance products through paid search, while vacant land policy purchases rose by 74%. AHLA's total YoY revenue from paid search got a significant boost of 136%.

What do performance marketing agencies do?

Performance marketing agencies help businesses optimize their online marketing efforts to achieve desired results, such as clicks, leads, traffic, and sales. They often use pay-per-click (PPC), affiliate marketing, and social media ads, to effectively reach and engage the target audiences and turn them into qualified leads or loyal customers.

Here are the performance marketing services typically offered by performance advertising agencies:

  • Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising
Managing and optimizing campaigns on platforms like Google Ads and Bing Ads to drive targeted traffic

Partnering with other businesses or content creators to promote the brand’s products or services, while offering commissions on generated sales
  • Email marketing
Creating and implementing email campaigns that engage customers, nurture leads, and drive conversions

Success story

Even established brands sometimes experience a slump in their marketing efforts and turn to performance marketing agencies for a successful turnaround. We chose this case study as an example:

  • Challenge: National Public Radio (NPR), a prominent media brand, relies on corporate sponsorships to sustain its operations. Its subsidiary, National Public Media (NPM), aimed to improve its sponsorship acquisition efforts by lowering the cost per acquisition (CPA) and driving more conversions through its website's landing page.
  • Solution: KlientBoost, a performance marketing company, developed a comprehensive marketing plan to attain its objectives within a three-month timeframe. The plan included a variety of tactics like single keyword ad groups strategy, smart ad bidding, attribution research and modification, and breadcrumb technique.
  • Results: Within just two weeks, the campaign delivered impressive results:
    • 1,485% increase in conversion volume
    • 94% boost in conversion rate
    • 21% decrease in cost per click (CPC)
    • 38% increase in clickthrough rate (CTR)

How much do performance marketing companies charge for their services?

The costs for performance marketing services vary depending on the strategies used (e.g., PPC, SEO, email marketing) and the campaign objectives (e.g., ROAS, CAC, traffic, conversions). Therefore, there are no standard rates for a performance marketing package, as agencies customize their pricing based on specific business needs and goals.

However, since performance marketing falls under the umbrella of digital marketing, agencies generally charge between $2,000 and $20,000 or more per month. Below is a breakdown of typical costs for the most commonly used performance marketing services:

  • PPC advertising: up to $10,000 per month
  • Email marketing: $500-$5,000 per month
  • SEO: $1,500-$5,000 per month
  • Affiliate marketing: 5-30% of affiliate revenue

Why should I hire a performance marketing agency?

You should hire a performance marketing agency because it offers expertise to fine-tune and maximize your marketing campaigns and deliver successful results. For example, it can easily identify the most effective channels to run your ads based on where your customers are searching — whether it’s Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn.

Performance marketers can also do continuous testing and make data-driven adjustments to campaigns to achieve or even exceed your business goals.

Many businesses partner with performance marketing companies because they:

  • Have specialized knowledge and experience in various digital marketing strategies, channels, and tactics
  • Have proven processes and experienced teams that can bring faster results
  • Use analytics and data to track campaign performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Have access to advanced marketing tools and technologies that enhance campaign effectiveness
  • Can maximize advertising budget to achieve a better return on investment (ROI)
  • Use advanced audience segmentation techniques to reach a wider audience and specific customer groups
  • Can quickly scale marketing efforts based on performance and changing business needs
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and changes in digital marketing
  • Provide detailed reports on campaign performance for better decision-making

Success story

We chose this case study to show the challenges of in-house performance marketing, and how a skilled agency rescued a struggling campaign and recovered wasted ad spend:

  • Challenge: An eCommerce company was draining its ad budgets on inefficient Amazon campaigns. To turn the tide, it hired a performance marketing agency to lower its advertising cost of sale (ACoS) and boost campaign performance.
  • Solution: JumpFly launched Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns on Amazon and implemented both automated and manual targeting strategies. To beat the high ACoS, the performance marketing company analyzed search term reports to identify and eliminate underperforming keywords and reduce wasteful spending.
  • Results: By structuring the campaigns better and implementing Amazon best practices like negative keywords tactics, the client reduced its overall ACoS by over 26% within the first two months while also cutting monthly ad spend by nearly 54%. There was also a remarkable 32% lower ACoS across all JumpFly-built campaigns.

What red flags to watch out for when hiring performance marketing agencies?

Protect your business from costly mistakes and mediocre results by keeping an eye out for these red flags when hiring a performance marketing agency:

  • Overpromise success
Avoid performance marketing agencies that guarantee immediate results as they often overlook the time it takes to achieve sustainable growth; this can lead to unrealistic expectations.
  • Lack clearly integrated strategies
Avoid single-service agencies or those that focus on only one aspect of advertising or marketing, as they often lack a fully integrated strategy. For example, Google Ads should run simultaneously with social media ads to achieve your conversion goals.
  • No clear metrics
Don't work with a performance marketing company that doesn’t clearly articulate the key performance indicators (KPIs) or ROI, it may not be serious about delivering measurable, data-driven results.
  • Poor communication skills
Don’t consider an agency if it shows poor communication during your initial call. If it’s slow to respond or doesn’t address questions thoroughly, it could signal future communication issues and lack of support.
  • Relying on complex system for communication
Be wary of companies that rely on platforms like Slack or ticketing systems for communication. It shows inflexibility that can hinder timely responses and efficient problem-solving.
  • Overuse of jargons
Skip performance marketing companies that excessively use terminologies or buzzwords without clear explanations because it indicates they’re trying to confuse or impress you, rather than genuinely inform.
  • Lack of data-driven strategies
Watch out for vanity metrics, like follower count, because they don’t contribute to your ROI. A good performance marketing agency should focus on data-driven strategies and provide reports that directly reflect your business goals and impact.
  • Doesn’t provide ad creatives
Beware of performance advertising agencies that only run ads but don't provide the copy or creatives. Effective advertising relies on strong creative elements, and the performance marketing agency should have full control over these aspects to ensure proper testing and optimization.
  • Poor reviews
Be cautious of performance marketing agencies with low ratings or negative reviews. Check verified review platforms like DesignRush or Trustpilot to read authentic client feedback and testimonials.
