In March 2024, I interviewed for a position with Castro Puerto Rico, a "subsidiary" of Castro & Company whose whole purpose is to outsource cheap manpower from Puerto Rico. I saw it as a great opportunity and accepted the offer. Unfortunately, things took a difficult turn for me. On June 29, I experienced my first anxiety attack, triggered by unresolved memories from my time in the service. It was an overwhelming experience, and I realized I needed professional help. I sought treatment through the VA, and they recommended a 10-day partial hospitalization program.Upon learning of the treatment plan, I immediately informed my HR department. A week later, I was informed that I was removed from the client assignment. Shortly after, I was told that my employment was terminated without any notice. It was shocking to me that a company like Castro & Co, working for the federal government, would treat a veteran this way.This situation has left me devastated; I am on the verge of losing everything I have. Federal contractors should not treat veterans who have served this country with such disregard, especially when they are facing challenges related to their service. "
