Founded in 1973, The Eyak Corporation emerged as a for-profit entity under Alaska law, operating in alignment with the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) enacted by Congress in 1971. Serving as the village corporation for Cordova and situated within the Chugach region, the company was established through the advocacy of Native leader Cecil Barnes, representing 326 original shareholders, predominantly of Aleut descent. The company, named in honor of the Eyak Natives, strives to safeguard ANCSA lands and uphold Native cultural heritage while promoting economic opportunities and asset growth.
Today, with 636 shareholders as of January 1, 2024, The Eyak Corporation is a cornerstone of economic development and cultural preservation in its region. Offering a comprehensive suite of services encompassing project management, construction, and facility staffing, the company and its affiliated companies prioritize timely and cost-effective project completion.
