Meta's social media platform Instagram quietly launched a new feature with the help of singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo and her recent single.
Based on Rodrigo's latest carousel post on Instagram, the new feature will allow users to add music to their image and video carousel posts, the same way Rodrigo added "bad idea right?" to her own post.

To do so, users can click on the sound used in a post and choose "use audio," where they will be prompted to create their own post using the sound.
The feature was first announced months ago by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in his Instagram Broadcast Channel, which he said at the time was "available in a few countries with more to come."
Until now, Instagram allowed users to add music only for single-image posts and Reels. However, adding music to carousel posts isn't a new thing.
TikTok has long allowed users to integrate music to image slideshows in their app in a strategic shift to be a mixed-media platform.
Furthermore, TikTok also confirmed a bunch of new features coming to the platform:
- It integrated text-based posts to rival Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter)
- Began testing full-length podcasts to challenge YouTube
- Launched its new audio streaming platform TikTok Music to take on Apple Music and Spotify
