Tech conglomerate Microsoft plans to introduce a new default theme and font for Office next month, giving the app's interface a fresh new look.
"The new Office Theme is on its way and will soon be available to all Office users. This new look specifies an updated standard color palette and type font that are applied throughout Microsoft Office. The new theme will affect only your document, not the look and feel of Microsoft 365," the company wrote on its support page.
Last month, the tech giant announced that it would change its default typeface Calibri with a new sans-serif font called Aptos - the first time the company had changed the font in 15 years.
Microsoft noted that Aptos will come with different font weights like narrow, serif, and monospace, which sets modes and direct the reader’s attention.
Microsoft PowerPoint product manager Jess Kwok said in a blog post the company has also increased the number of default outline weights and improved the consistency between shapes and lines, as well as the contrast.
While the changes have already rolled out for some users last month, the company is expected to roll out the new default theme and fonts for all users in September.
