Softeq had developed a Windows device driver for my company in 2015. It worked reasonably well. Several updates were done in the first few years to fix bugs. By 2025 it was growing more and more incompatible with Windows updates. I asked Softeq to fix the software but they suggested rewriting it completely with current technology. I followed their suggestion. Six months into the project, which was several months behind schedule, they said the entire estimated budget was spent, and they provided a test software. I was stunned to find that, aside from the UI, the test software was completely non-functional except for system default functions. I told them to stop charging for any further work. The entire fee paid to Softeq went up in smoke.March 2026 update: after my complaint to Softeq in Dec 2025, they promised to do additional work at no extra charge. A second test version was provided in late March 2026. It was roughly 50% functional but full of critical bugs and errors. They have spent hundreds more hours than the entire original 2015 project to get to a half way point this time. Despite previously offering to make things right at no additional cost, now they again said additional hours will be billable. Considering their appalling lack of efficiency, my cost may double or triple but still there seems no hope of ever receiving an acceptable product.
