I’ve read the prior reviews and wondered why my experience with them was so awful. Their actual installation was fine (the office came pre-wired), but after we were hooked up they left us on our own. No instructions on how to operate the phones, and the instruction pamphlet was for a different model. We weren’t getting calls, lines weren’t ported, the voicemails didn’t work, and when out of a week’s frustration I expressed my displeasure at being cut off from the outside world, I “offended” the gentleman I was speaking with. I found them unprofessional, uncaring and condescending. But they certainly can bill well! Certainly not the type of service my clients expect from me and I’d be ashamed as a professional to provide. But maybe that’s just me.

The true definition of professionalism, quality, and reliability. Our company has been using Beyond IT for 3+ years now, and it is such a pleasure to work with a company that has such high standards and response time! Of which, is on par with actually having an "in-house" dedicated IT department. From small issues to large, Beyond IT has proven time and time again what true customer appreciation and quality dedication means!

Clearview Inc. has utilized Beyond IT for all its IT needs for over a year and a half now - everything from migrating our managed services, to a planned server upgrade and most recently a complete phone system overhaul. All of these projects went very smoothly and were virtually seamless for our work environment. The staff at Beyond IT took the time to evaluate our needs for each of these endeavors and offered comprehensive and cost effective solutions. Any day to day needs are addressed very quickly by the staff which is always very helpful and pleasant to work with. It is nice to know that our systems are in good hands with Beyond IT so we can concentrate on our own business.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services do cloud consulting firms provide?

Cloud consulting companies typically provide these specialized services:

  • System audit and strategy: Assessing the current IT infrastructure, applications, and processes to identify gaps, uncover opportunities, and develop a cloud strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Cloud migration and implementation: Moving data, applications, and infrastructure from on-premises environments or legacy systems to the cloud platform and performing cloud integration while minimizing downtime and preserving data integrity.
  • Cloud operations and optimization: Reviewing an existing cloud environment to identify performance issues, security gaps, and cost inefficiencies, and recommending improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Regulatory compliance and security: Helping organizations operate under the cloud shared responsibility model by implementing identity and access management (IAM), encryption, governance controls, and other cybersecurity measures to protect systems and data.
  • Cloud training: Providing workshops, documentation, and hands-on training so internal teams can effectively use, manage, and maintain their cloud environment.

Some firms also offer adjacent cloud consulting services, such as data analytics, digital transformation, DevOps, AI/ML development, custom software development, managed services, and ongoing support.

What is the difference between cloud consulting companies and managed services?

Top cloud consulting firms primarily help organizations plan, design, migrate, and optimize their cloud environments. Managed services, by contrast, focus on the ongoing operation, monitoring, and support of IT systems. Here is a side-by-side comparison:

 Cloud Consulting FirmsManaged Services Providers
Primary focusStrategy, architecture, migration, compliance, and optimizationDay-to-day operations, monitoring, maintenance, and support
ServicesCloud assessments, roadmap development, migration planning, implementation, governance, compliance, optimization, and trainingInfrastructure monitoring, incident response, patching, cybersecurity support, help desk services, backups, and disaster recovery
Engagement modelTypically, project-based or advisory, with some offering ongoing support Usually long-term and recurring under a managed service agreement

When should you choose a cloud platform or an on-premises setup?

The right choice depends on your security and compliance requirements, workload patterns, internal IT capabilities, and budget.

Consider choosing a cloud platform if:

  • Your team works across multiple locations and needs reliable remote access.
  • Your workloads or data volumes fluctuate, and you need to scale up or down quickly.
  • You are a startup or small business seeking faster deployment, lower upfront costs, and greater flexibility.

Consider an on-premise setup if:

  • You work with highly sensitive data or proprietary systems that require strict control over infrastructure.
  • You operate in a highly regulated industry where certain data or workloads must remain on-premises.
  • You have stable, predictable workloads that can justify the higher upfront investment over time.

In some cases, a hybrid approach may be the best option, especially for organizations that want to keep sensitive systems on-premises while using the cloud for scalability, collaboration, or backup and disaster recovery.

When should you hire a cloud consultant vs. keep it in-house?

Consider hiring a cloud consultant when you need specialized expertise, an outside perspective, or extra support for a complex project. Consultants help fill skill gaps on your internal team, develop a migration strategy, and recommend the right cloud platform, deployment model, and tech stack according to your needs.

A cloud consulting company can also help identify gaps and opportunities in your current cloud platforms to further align them with your business goals, operational needs, and compliance requirements.

On the other hand, keep cloud computing in-house if you already have an experienced internal team that can plan, migrate, set up, maintain, and manage your environment effectively.

An in-house approach may also be preferable if you work with highly sensitive data or proprietary systems and want tighter day-to-day control over operations.

How much do cloud consulting services cost?

The cost of cloud consulting services starts at $60-$180 per hour, while senior consultants or highly specialized experts may charge $100-$250+ per hour. The total cost of service will depend on project scale and complexity, security and compliance requirements, and technologies involved.

Approximate cloud consulting service rates are as follows:

  • Small engagements ($10,000-$50,000+): These often include cloud assessments, a cloud adoption roadmap, proof of concept (PoC), and ready-to-use service deployment.
  • Mid-sized engagements ($50,000-$150,000+): Customized cloud infrastructure design, governance setup, and integration with existing systems.
  • Large-scale projects (starts at $150,000): Multi-environment migrations, advanced security and compliance frameworks, large-scale modernization, or complex platform initiatives.
  • Enterprise-level projects (starts at $500,000): Highly customized architecture, enterprise-wide cloud transformation, multiple integrations, strict compliance requirements, and support for large internal teams or business units.
