It's like stepping into a storybook. in the whole street it stands out in the best way. The building is quaint and quirky, with fun outdoor seating, comfortable indoor seating, and the cat themed decor is hours of enjoyment (fun side quest, check the drawer of the little table near the couch). The cardamon maple latte is absolutely stellar. I can't stop dreaming about it each time I walk away, and can't wait to come back again. I really love all their vegan/dairy free options too. The owner and staff are lovely. Service is friendly, genuine and kind. All the things I want for a visit to a coffee house. Flying Cat Coffee, you've cat-putured my heart. "

Cutest and most special spot! The employees are so nice and the sandwiches, drinks, and pastries are delicious. I love sitting indoors or outside, and it’s a great place to bring kids - they will have so much fun looking at the cat pictures, and there is a selection of books and games to keep them occupied. "

I never leave reviews and honestly rarely ever complain about a place but my experience ordering from flying cat is the worst experience I’ve ever had. My drink came in a recycled milk carton which I love the idea of but when I went to remove my drinks the bottom of the container itwas CRUSTED in mold. I was baffled. I was able to get a refund from DoorDash but this is a huge health hazard so I called them to let them know what I received. When I called there was no apology, no accountability, and they even tried to blame it on the DoorDash driver. I know for a fact that these are their carriers because my driver sent me a picture of them picking it up in this carrier and flying cat even posts about these carriers on their instagram. I honestly don’t care about a refund but trying to blame a DoorDash driver for your unsanitary practices is not cool. Reading other comments about the uncleanliness of this place further validated my concerns. Please get it together and take sanitary issues seriously and have some semblance of accountability "

Atmosphere was not the least bit pleasant. Super, super dirty. Eerily quiet. Not even remotely greeted with a welcoming vibe. Was gonna take a work call, but had to reconsider bc I was so uncomfortable. The chai was good, though. "

I love this gem of a place, one of my favorite coffee spots in Portland! For the “rude” or “mean” cashier comments floating around, I would just like to offer a gentle reminder that some people simply aren’t as out there or extroverted. In America we have gotten a bit too used to people performing cheerfulness for tips. Personally, I appreciate a straightforward, no-frills kind of person (very European in the best way) and they’re still kind, attentive, and even remembered my order after only a couple of visits!The drinks are genuinely special; the black licorice latte (house-made syrup!) is my go-to, with the juniper sage as a close second. Everything I’ve tried has been thoughtful and delicious.For the people calling it “messy” or “rundown,” I’d say it’s just eclectic cozy. As another person had mentioned, it’s not one of those Pearl District cafés that look like a dermatologist’s waiting room (clinically white, soulless, and weirdly proud of it). Flying Cat actually feels like something; a little worn, a little mismatched, but alive. Far more sincere than any “minimalist aesthetic” could ever hope to, in my opinion. It feels like an old home with personality; the kind of place you can actually exhale, read, and exist without pretense.If you like your coffee (and your coffee shops) with character, Flying Cat’s the spot. "
