Standout Features:

  • Striking, minimalist cover portrait
  • Editorial spread with asymmetric balance
  • Immersive full-bleed photography in feature openers

ZR_MAIA, an independent and multidisciplinary graphic design studio, handled the editorial design for Forbes Brasil.

The magazine print design project required a vision that could accommodate diverse subject matter, from personal profiles to lifestyle features.

The cover features a tightly cropped, high-resolution portrait against a smooth gradient background that shifts from deep purple to indigo.

The iconic Forbes masthead sits prominently at the top, while minimal white sans-serif subheadlines provide a clean contrast.

By stripping away unnecessary cover lines and relying on a powerful, direct gaze from the subject, the design exudes confidence and authority.

The interior spread “Cannabis high end” pairs a clean, white background with ample margins and an asymmetric layout.

You'll see a bold serif headline on the left and a vertical image column on the right. The body text is set in tight, justified columns.

This asymmetric composition creates a sense of visual tension that keeps you engaged while still maintaining a structured reading flow.

Additionally, the high contrast between the crisp white space and the deep tones in the photography also makes for a premium, editorial tone.

Forbes Brasil 'O Espelho da Amazônia' spread by ZR_MAIA.

The “O Espelho da Amazônia” spread uses a full-bleed landscape photograph that spans both pages. The mirrored reflection of the rainforest and a boat form a natural sense of visual symmetry.

Full-bleed imagery allows the photography to dominate the page, making the environment itself the main subject. The placement of the type respects the composition.

All that being said, the choice to invest in a premium print edition is a strong one for building reader trust, as a 2017 MarketingSherpa survey found that four out of five consumers state they trust print ads and content the most when making a decision.

Here, the print design for Forbes Brasil is a fantastic example of a brand that is both classic and completely of the moment.

To keep a classic brand feeling relevant, its design needs to be confident and bold, using powerful photography and clean layouts to make a strong impression.
