Standout Features:

  • Artistic storytelling
  • Scientific illustrations
  • Equitable and inclusive messaging

HEALTH EQUITY is an editorial series designed to tackle the health taboos that frequently divide the public, aiming to remove these borders and build bridges that would help everyone overcome them. Sail Ho studio helped design this special dossier for the Scientific American magazine.

The unique artistic approach in this alluring healthcare design depicts small faceless people standing in front of enormous store windows, with the glass separating them from the far bigger models that exhibit mental issues (like depression) and COVID vaccines on pedestals, with massive price tags hanging from them.

Another display window depicts a healthy heart as a jewel on a pricey ring. The presentation helps position these window items as luxurious, prompting you to ask yourself if they should be.

The faceless, small people on the other side of the glass have their hands placed against it, showing the disparity of needs and possibilities in healthcare. This visual storytelling through scientific illustrations begs the question of equity and inclusion in the system, making you wonder how this is possible and how you can play your part in changing it.
