I engaged Favoured to support the growth and visibility of my mobile app WatchMaker Watch Faces in a competitive market during June to September 2024. The engagement lasted around three months, though I was billed for four, including a month where no work was done. Their deliverables included ad management (Apple Search Ads, Facebook), creative production (screenshots, video campaigns), and onboarding to various third-party marketing tools and services.Feedback SummaryAlthough the team was friendly and easy to work with, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. Despite a total spend of approximately £15,000, I saw no improvement in app installs—if anything, metrics declined slightly. Much of the work lacked strategic insight, and several deliverables underperformed or were never completed at all.Detailed FeedbackAd Campaigns:The agency managed Apple Search Ads and briefly ran a Facebook ad campaign. The Apple campaign achieved lower cost-per-install numbers but never reached profitability or sustainability. The Facebook campaign showed early promise but quickly became ROI-negative and was left unoptimized. Outside of that, there was no meaningful involvement in social media marketing.Creative Assets:They designed two new sets of app store screenshots, both of which were A/B tested against my original set. Surprisingly, their professionally produced screenshots performed significantly worse—even though I’m not a graphic designer myself. This raised concerns about their understanding of my product and audience.I was also asked to provide raw graphic assets for two planned video campaigns, which initially sounded promising and exciting. I took considerable time to deliver what was requested. Unfortunately, neither campaign was ever finished. Instead, I received a single, generic, uninspired concept that didn’t reflect my brand or app’s value proposition.Tech Stack & Tool Recommendations:A major part of their effort seemed to be convincing me to subscribe to an expensive suite of third-party tools. These were presented as essential and affordable but ended up costing thousands of pounds. Most offered little value, were poorly implemented, and in retrospect, I could have done better handling them myself at a fraction of the cost.Execution & Strategy:Much of the work felt superficial and disconnected from my actual goals. Their approach lacked strategic thinking and understanding of my product. For example, an automated email campaign was deployed without proofreading, resulting in messages sent with placeholder text like “We missed you [name goes here].” Most actions only occurred after I prompted them.Client Relationship:The team was friendly, responsive, and pleasant to deal with. However, it often felt like their priority was retaining me as a client rather than delivering results. Communication was good—but execution did not match.Post-Engagement Issues:After leaving, I spent months trying to cancel the various third-party services they’d enrolled me in—many of which I suspect were recommended because of referral commissions, not necessity.Overall RatingDespite a good rapport with the team, the engagement delivered no measurable business benefit. I cannot recommend Favoured based on my experience.
