- Project Brief: Design a banking and finance app that simplifies rewards, domestic and cross-border payments, and everyday spending through an accessible financial experience.
A banking and finance app almost always signals trust with cool blues and tidy minimalism. UGLYCASH, a cross-border money app from Best Friend Finance, throws that rulebook out and dresses itself like a sticker-bombed skate deck.
The wallet screen anchors the chaos, keeping a clean white base, a bold balance, and clear Add Funds and Withdraw buttons. Around that calm core it piles holographic wordmarks, neon Post-it rewards tags, and a chrome-globe tab icon, so the noise sits on top of a usable layout rather than replacing it.
The brand voice leans all the way into the "ugly" name, running graffiti scrawl, clashing stickers, and a blunt "Your bank won't do this" pitch. That anti-bank posture is the whole point, aimed at a young Latin America remittance crowd that finds polished fintech boring.
The risk is the gap between costume and category, since scattered stickers and distressed type undercut the trust a money app needs. It stops young users cold in a feed, though the same clutter can read as unserious the moment someone weighs handing it real savings.
