- Project Brief: Create retail print design for Aldi UK’s Halloween campaign through a themed broomstick parking sign, spooky floor graphics, and a dedicated parking bay that brings seasonal humor to the in-store shopping experience.
Retail print can turn an ordinary car park into a seasonal talking point with a single well-placed sign. Aldi UK, the discount supermarket chain, worked with Taylor Herring on a broomstick parking bay for Halloween at its Water Lane store in York.
The sign copies the format of a real car park notice, so shoppers read it as official before they catch the joke. A navy panel with a thin orange border carries a white P box on the left and the Aldi logo on the right.
Bold white sans serif capitals spell out Broomstick Parking, with a smaller For Witches and Wizards Only line set underneath. A simple white broom icon sits at the bottom in place of the usual arrow or car symbol.
That same broom shape reappears as a large white vinyl graphic on the asphalt, laid out like a painted bay marking. The repeat links the sign to the ground, so the whole space reads as one piece of print from post to pavement.
