Some book covers are purely aesthetic; others act as visual previews of the ideas inside. Experimental Geography falls into the latter, translating themes of geography, industrialization, and human intervention into a book cover that feels both structured and dynamic.

The top half of the design, with its thin, blue vertical lines, mimics the openness of the sky — calm, expansive, a visual breath of fresh air. But the real magic happens below.

The bottom half of the cover reads like a cross-section of the earth, its horizontal bands of color resembling geological strata. Warm oranges and browns form the foundation: soil, rock, sediment. Above them, bands of deep blue suggest underground water sources.

Higher still, reds and yellows emerge, framing the book’s additional information while subtly nodding to minerals, industrialization, and human impact. It’s earth, deconstructed — both scientifically precise and visually compelling.

At the center, white outlines of mountains, hills, and valleys sit atop the colorful layers, reinforcing the book’s exploration of how landscapes are shaped, both by nature and by us. It’s a cover that doesn’t just reference geography; it functions like a map, a lesson, and a bold invitation to explore what lies beneath the surface.
