  • Project Brief: Design an editorial magazine that celebrates creative individuality through expressive layouts, compelling typography, and fashion-forward visual storytelling.

Magazine design lives in the tension between a cover that stops a browser and interiors that earn the read. Tidal Magazine Issue 21 handles both, wrapping a loud custom logotype around portrait photography that carries the whole editorial voice.

The masthead sets the personality. A liquid, retro-bulbous "Tidal" wordmark recolors per cover, white on sage green, then yellow over a red feathered look, so the logo flexes with each image while staying instantly recognizable.

Interior spreads follow one clear system. Punchy display heads like "Technicolor Daydream" sit against wide margins, monospace credit blocks, and cutout dot motifs, letting full-bleed portraits face calm typographic pages that never fight the photography.

Restraint holds the issue together. A limited palette of primary dots, generous white space, and typewriter-style body text give the anti-mainstream lineup room to breathe, so individuality reads through the layout rather than through decoration.
