- Project Brief: Create an automotive video for the Tesla Roadster that showcases its performance-focused engineering through cinematic lighting, precise editing, technical details, and aerospace-inspired visuals that reinforce its identity as a driver-focused vehicle.
An automotive film feels more convincing when it plays out like an engineering test. Tesla’s The Last Best Driver’s Car runs the Roadster through what looks like a launch trial, built around its cold-gas thrusters and active aerodynamics.
A rear shot shows four thrusters firing white plumes into fog, framed by a tall wing and a single red light bar. The plate simply reads “RDSTR,” which keeps the frame stark and every eye on the hardware.
Another angle looks straight up at the underbody, where wiring, fans, and nozzles sit backlit against pure white. Seeing the parts laid bare like a technical cutaway explains the suction system faster than any voiceover could.
From overhead, the white car streaks down a ruler-marked runway, trailing smoke past rows of lighting rigs. Leaving the production gear in frame adds test-day realism that suits a car pitched to drivers who think like pilots.
