  • Project Brief: Create a non-profit website that presents a memorial experience through immersive visuals, emotional storytelling, intuitive navigation, and gentle motion.

Nonprofit website design carries real weight in its tone. 1-800 Happy Birthday honors people lost to violence by staging the birthday parties they never reached.

The visual language comes straight from airbrushed tribute culture. Bubble names, sparkle bursts, and glowing portrait halos echo the memorial shirts and boardwalk airbrush portraits of the communities it speaks to.

The interface leans hard into early-web nostalgia. A Winamp-style bar reads "Now playing: Eric Garner - Voicemails," and a card carousel lets visitors drag between tributes like a photo album.

The details close the loop on the concept. The praying-hands motif and the birthday-card framing turn each memorial into a celebration, so the site reads as a genuine tribute rather than a somber archive.
