We were introduced to KDG back in October 2024. They were recommended by a sister company of ours. Our goal was to transition from multiple programs to one program to help streamline and automate as many processes as possible. In order to accomplish this, we needed a company like KDG to help with the customization of the program to accommodate the different needs of the different roles within our organization. They've spent so much time with us, starting with each employee to understand what they need - They've truly been a partner. I would recommend KDG to ANYONE wanting to transition into a simplified system where efficiency and transparency is key.

Pain often enacts change and growth. A series of unfortunate events with a previous firm brought us to RKL a few years ago, and we could not be more relieved. We instantly felt the safety net of professional expertise in every area of our business. Not only are they extremely good at what they do, but RKL is also proactive in constantly looking for ways to improve us financially and operationally. We REALLY knew we had hit the jackpot when Covid-19 swung RKL into action, way ahead of their competitors, with the weekly Friday webinars open to clients and not-yet clients alike. This inspired idea of RKL's was a lifeline to our sanity as we all navigated this together, and literally put RKL on the front page. I have learned that if they offer advice or answer a question, it's been well researched and is spot on. We are so VERY grateful for our tax, corporate audit, and pension audit team.

RKL CPA services really went down the drain for the last couple of years. Jim needs to either retire or let someone else take care of his position. When he obviously knows something, he would reply like he doesn't. It's almost like he is acting like a 16 year working at Mc Donalds, filling up time for a PayCheck and doing everything he can not get involved in any project. I can't believe his title is a partner since he really doesn't act like he is doing anything to improve company revenues. Multiple mistakes from different associates; they can't even hold on to their commitment to calling the client on time. Associates unable to look at a paper and type the information into the computer without making spelling mistakes. Just overall, I completely lost my trust in them to handle something as crucial as taxes.

What red flags to watch out for when hiring IT services for startups?

When hiring IT services for startups, choosing the wrong provider can lead to inefficiencies, security risks, and wasted resources. Here are key red flags to watch for:

  • No experience with early-stage businesses
Stay away from IT service for startups that are unfamiliar with starting businesses’ environments because they may struggle to offer flexible and high-impact solutions that might hinder growth.
  • Outdated service models
Avoid startup IT support providers that don’t offer adaptable, scalable IT support. If a startup IT support insists on long-term contracts with little flexibility, lacks cloud expertise, or primarily supports large enterprises, they may not align with your growth needs.
  • Slow response times and poor communication
Disregard IT support for startups that cannot guarantee fast response times or those that lack a structured support system. Startups often operate on tight deadlines, so it’s imperative for tech support for startups to address critical IT issues immediately. That way you can avoid disrupting operations and potentially creating significant delays for your time to market.
  • No startup-friendly scalability plan
Beware of providers who cannot scale their services without expensive overhauls, as they will become bottlenecks as you expand.
  • Lack of integrations with existing tools
Disregard providers of tech support for startups who struggle to integrate with modern SaaS applications or forces you onto outdated systems. Most startups rely on cloud-based tools like AWS, Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion, so you will need a reliable partner to help you integrate the needed software.
  • Lack of cybersecurity and compliance knowledge
Avoid companies that downplay the importance of cybersecurity and lack expertise in implementing essential security measures. Partnering with such organizations increases the risk of data breaches, regulatory violations, and operational disruptions.
  • Minimal proactive support
Stay away from IT service providers who only offer reactive, break-fix support instead of proactive system monitoring, performance optimization, and regular updates. A good IT provider prevents issues before they happen, so that they can prevent any downtime and security vulnerabilities.
  • Hidden costs and unclear pricing
Avoid an IT service for startups that doesn’t offer transparent pricing, charges extra for essential services, or forces you into unnecessary upsells, because you might not be able to accommodate the costs the longer the project runs.
