Alessi has long been celebrated for its ability to infuse art and poetry into everyday objects. Tasked with elevating product clarity and capturing attention without sacrificing efficiency, Alessi turned to Mario Trimarchi Design.
The studio’s inventive solution reimagined packaging as a narrative tool, merging form and function to showcase Alessi’s products and tell the story behind them. This creates a striking presence that resonates with consumers across global retail landscapes.
Inspired by "Extra-Ordinary Cubic Books" by Mario Trimarchi, it transforms retail packaging into a tactile and visual experience. The book-like presentation enhances the brand's connection with consumers. It stands out in retail spaces and provides product information in a compact format, enriching the customer's journey from discovery to purchase.
One unique element is the packaging's ability to transition easily into a catalog. As the box unfolds, it reveals layers of product information, history, and design inspiration — blurring the line between packaging, marketing, and brand storytelling. This multifunctional design enhances the customer experience and reduces the need for separate marketing materials, lowering production costs and simplifying logistics for global distribution.
The designer also developed distinct visual branding for various product families under Alessi’s umbrella, enhancing brand differentiation and controlling the brand's presentation across new markets. This strategy assigned specific identities to different product clusters, allowing the brand to expand its reach while maintaining a unified image.
